Welcome to Season 6 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1991.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page.  Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.

Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.

  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues.  These players must be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

    Structured Window

No cash will be used and each team will get effectively free transfers by way of a draft, which will run 12th, 11th, 10th …… 1st, 12th, 11th,10th… 1st place side.  This will run from 10th June 2013 until all teams have had their two picks.

    Open Window

Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them.  Teams may only bid for one player at a time.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday.  Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday.  Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday.  Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday.  Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Saturday.  Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.  If you are not providing a descriptive prediction you will be restricted to predicting a 1 point win either way.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

At least 10 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

havent managed to watch any highlights of the other games but saw most of newcastle v bath. i wouldnt be too worried pooly/driver, first game back in the Prem and Bath just had a bigger pack out and they played the conditions better. who have u got this week?

i wasnt very impressed with quins. didnt think they played great, nor did wasps really. saracens looked a well drilled unit and always had too much for irish but i was quite encouraged by how we stuck at it and coped with them for most the game. scrum went ok but lineout wasnt great. couple of decent tries though. fancy us to lose at worcester on friday night however. away games on friday nights are a curse for us.

Agree with you there Nick - thought the ref didnt help with the Quins/Wasps game though, he didnt let it flow at all. Quite pleased with Wasps though as they showed some promise, though need our first choice centres back quickly and Daly. We really lack gainline breakers though, aprt from AJ, was impressed with Guy Thompson though.

Sarries looked very strong again, Farrell, both Vunipolas were class and can see Ashton having a good season again, especially if Tomkins keeps on improving. Lot of rumours last week that Sam Tomkins might be joining them in build up to 2015 WC, would love to see him in union.

If we lose on Friday night I will be really upset Nick, as we aren't playing until Saturday afternoon. Wink

Sale v Falcons and Worcester v Irish are massive games this week.  Sale can get a real march on the rest of us with a win over Falcons.

haha fair point Ozzy. Glad its Saturday afternoon! dono why i thought it was Friday night.

Sale should win at home to Falcons and that would be a superb start for them. To be honest im more concerned about beating Exeter the weekend after as we need to win home games like that. but yes its still a big game at worcester and it should be a close one.

Hopefully we will have Skivington back which will really boost the pack. Good to see some of the new lads front up on Saturday, I thought Parr and Sheridan had decent games and Yapp had an awesome first scrum when he came on.

Parr did ok, as did Sheridan.  We do need Skivs back though, and I would start Hala'ufia this week.  It pains me to say this as he is a big favourite of mine, but I would consider benching Losi as well, as he just hasn't appeared to carry the same threat recently as he used to.  I would maybe start Fenby on the wing instead.

Yeh cant argue with that, but to be fair to Losi he didnt really get much ball. He is at his most dangerous when he gets the ball in a bit of space or is 1 on 1 with his opposite man. more times than not he beats the first man. Be good to see Fenby get a go though.

Hala'ufia was quality when he came on and should start.

he scored 4 tries on his debut for us pre-season. but Smith went with Losi for the opener. Wouldnt be surpised to see him start soon though. Seems like a genuine try scorer had a decent record for Scarlets.

He's definitely not a youngster - was championship player of the season for af ew years in a row, but when he joined Saints last year he was injured for all of it. Looks first choice no8 for them though this year.

Saints looked very good though on Saturday.

I'd take a punt on him ,won't know what he's like until he's played top opposition.

Got a wider range of talents and excels in some areas whilst Robshaw is just well rounded. England won't win a world cup with Robshaw at 7.

Driver, agree with a lot of your picks - don't think Kvesvic is ready though, but at the same time Robshaw isnt an international class no7 to really threaten the top, top teams. We do need a no7 to come through strong, but not sure who will and atm there isnt anyone better to replace him and sounds like Robshaw has spent the summer losing weight and trying to get more breakdown skills.

I'd look to get Foden straight back in at 15 - he was fantastic against Exeter at the weekend and we need a 15 that is a strike runner, he also has an understanding with Ashton and not a coincidence Ashton has his best games for England when Foden plays.

Twelve shirt is an issue, Eastmond is a great player to watch, but would worry about his defence against teams like the ABs or SA or Wales. Same with Wade like that as they are all super physical teams.

Not bad side there driver I am sure we will have moved on from Goode by then. He has not worked and means we can't attack well.

Lancaster likes kvesic who is probably bigger built than robshaw. Surprised by his size on Saturday. Kvesic is not ready for me but as wood is going to be captain cannot see a role for robshaw.

It's a position we struggle in for sure.

Foden was top class from late March onwards last season and was very good at the weekend again. Best English fb, as has everything you need. Issue whether he fits into Lancasters game plan, if we want to attack more and create more gaps, then he's the only option.

I like Goode and Brown, but think they are limited at international level.

Goode - great positionally, clever kicker and can come in as 2nd receiver, but at international level he's been knocked off tackles too easily and offers no threat from 15. If he receives it you know he hasnt got the pace or power to break a line and will kick it, which makes defence easy.

Brown - all round very solid player, biggest work rate of any 15 but doesnt score enough tries and for me doesnt have that one thing that makes you think he could be a top class international.

You could be right with Daly, will all depend on where Wasps play him, think they see him as a 15 this year then a view to move him to 13 next. Out of all the Wasps youngsters I think he is the most talented and has the brightest future. Wasps could certainly do with him being back!

I think Englands problem is we don't have depth across the board but in some positions we're blessed with talent and others there is more action in your nans bedroom.

I think Foden got showed up more defensively at AP level than Goode did at Int which says how bad Foden was. If Foden gets back to 2010/11 form he's quality but not seen it for a long time. It has to be Brown.

Daly is too small for 13

Nev is already capped for NZ so I don't think it applies Prop.

Yeah has some caps for the All Blacks so couldnt play for us so would imagine he wouldnt count as eq in this game.

Agree with you Driver - front five and no6 we are well stocked now, maybe not so much at tighthead. Problem psitions are no7 and no12 - think it has been discussed on here before but how long til Lancaster tries Tuilagi at 12 and then looks at other players at 13, where we've got some great talent coming through.

Wouldn't agree that Daly is too small for 13, did well there for the BaaBaas and doesnt get shown up there for Wasps. Just depends on where they play him at his club.

Ba's game against England he played 15, too small for centres. Doesn't play there often anyway does he?

Would love to see Lowe outside Tuilagi. And for me Yarde and Wade are our number wings come Autumn.

I love Lowe, he's a small guy but built like a tank. His cover defence was superb against Vardell at weekend, he looked up match him which is great for a winger

Lowe has not done much in a long time. Would have him a way down pecking order at 13

Decent player but has not showed enough to be near squad. Has some nasty injuries to be fair.
