Tony Bellew Vs Valery Brudov at the Echo Arena on March 15

What do people think of Tony's move to cruiserweight? Seems risky to me.

Brudov was beaten in 5 rounds a couple of years ago by Ola Afolabi. He's also had a couple of losing cracks at the WBA portion of the cruiser title.


Bellew will be expected to win particularly given Brudov is getting on. In saying that Bellew has a habit of making hard work of things.

Could be an interesting fight.

Bellew is a top 10 ranked cruiser now (even though he has never fought at the weight)

Brudov has been battered by every decent fighter he has faced.

For someone with about 41 wins and 4 losses to have fought an opponent with a record that reads 7-53-0 in his last fight tells you what type of fighter he is.

Think cleverly has more chance of excelling at cruiser.........Bellew is easier to hit and he wasn't a concussive puncher at 175.......

Not the greatest chin at 175 either.........

However it's so appalling at cruiser you can't rule success out for either of them.

He was a concussive puncher in the amateurs at heavyweight though.

I think I buy into his story that he was draining himself, he didn't look good physically at light heavy, he was way too big for it.

Fighting 200 pound guys that weigh 210 on fight night....

Holmes weighed 215 for Spinks..........and Spinks was one of the biggest hitters in 175 history with his jinx...

Not like Larry didnt have the best chin though (Sarcastic joke!)

Bellew was knocking a fair few of opponants at heavy in the amatuers.

I can remember his ABA final against Lewie Dickinson when he KO'd him with a single left hook. With head gear on aswell.

I just hope he hasn't done too much damage to his body trying to get down to 175 for years.
