Rumours that this is close to being signed, what do you make of this fight? Good test or another hyped journeyman?

I actually like the sound of it

But still 20+ fights into his career he should be at or even past this level by now

Given his short amateur career I give Deontay more of a break than most for his opposition, but after 20 fights it does start to look a bit pathetic.

Scott's a good test of how he'll deal with a canny, skilled back foot boxer. Only defeat is to Del boy in a fight many had him winning although I disagreed with that consensus. He can almost match Wilder for height and his chin isn't anywhere near as findable as most Wilder opponents. Step in the right direction.

Twenty fights? Try thirty. The man needs a serious test.

His best opponent to date, a genuinely live one, they've been trying to slowly (I mean seriously slowly) build Wilder and get him the best training, sparring he could, finally we might see him let off the leash a little, but I would imagine there will be around 3 or 4 more fights in and around Scott's level before another step up, step in the right direction though.

I said in a previous post that Malik Scott was a "nothing" fighter and I genuinely believe that hasn't changed. Wilder isn't anything but a glorified punch machine from what I have seen. Yes he has frightening power and a fair bit of speed, which coupled with his ferocity means he can be a handful.

However I have seen nothing from Wilder that suggests a decent boxer can't nullify his attacks and make him look a bit silly in the process. It would also be good to see someone with half a punch clock him in the ring a few times and see how he stands up to it.

This fight sounds as though all that will happen is that Scott will become Wilder's 31st KO victim. I hope he proves me wrong and at least gives him a test but I not holding my breath. Wilder KO3.

Only Deontay's short amateur career was actually longer and more prestigeous than Del Boys....

He/his corner have ensured his progress is slow and you have to ask why? It looks very much that he has either a suspect chin or stamina. So, they're feeding him as many tomato cans to make his record look impressive so he gets undeserved big money and opportunities, before he gets found out.

And I commend Del's attitude towards fighting the best and think he's gotten a raw deal from most posters. He's an exception, I'm just giving Wilder's ridiculously slow rise some perspective.

Scott isn't a power puncher but if wilder is packing china, Scott should be elusive enough as a south paw to at least land a couple of times before the inevitable. I'd expect wilder to KO Scott, but hopefully 5 or 6 rounds of boxing before hand.
I like this fight. Hope it's made, and hope it's a sign of new ambitions for Wilder in 2014.

Slightly agree with this,

He's come up short in his big fights which suggests he's found his level,

That being said, given the way the Yanks & other media outlets have been hyping Wilder you'd have to say that Chisora does get a raw deal in regard not being taken seriously at World level. He is often overlooked in any conversation regarding the future of the division...

This despite having beaten better opposition than most out there excluding the Klits....I mean he beat Malik Scott 3 fights ago.

In 23 fights he has taken on... Vitali, Haye, Fury, Scott, Helenius....Wilder & Fury haven't even come close to anything like that *exception of Haye for Fury*

You'd have to say he got shafted against Helenius & gave Vitali one of his tougher fights to date. I expect him to seriously trouble & perhaps even beat Fury in the rematch.

Because we all know that all of the 'talent's either have flaws or are untested! Wilder hasn't been in with anyone resembling a decent test, Fury has shown he has massive defensive frailties and Haye sits at home more often than he fights...Price is rebuilding but we know his whiskers are unlikely to stand up to the test.

Chisora may not be the greatest heavyweight to grace the division but he is far from the worst. The fact he has been there and seen it (he has travelled, he has had the big fights) gives him reason enough to feel that he has the edge on his rivals.

I think that the Fury rematch will tell us a lot about how much Chisora wants it. Lets be honest he hardly turned up in good enough shape to walk 5 meters last time never mind have a boxing bout.

You seem to hate Chisora with an absolute passion, he has a fun style, is generally in decent fights, has fought guys too good for him far too early, and was really unlucky over in Finland, give the guy a break he's trying. Did he slap your missus about aswell, 'cos you seem to hate him around about that much?

Don't hate anybody.. It's a waste of time...........

His style was really fun against Helenius, Klitty and Fury wasn't it ??.....You must be undemanding..

Though he looked interesting on his back against Haye..I'll give you that..

But I don't hold a no good, classless scumbag who can't fight in high esteem you're right..

I'm not like you, I don't get behind many guys.

I think Chisora is just a decent addition to the division, doesn't deserve to be attacked constantly by annoying juicehead yanks.

Did I miss the scratching and hair pulling?

Because the division is so poor, Chis is good enough to pick up a strap, especially now there is only 1 Klitch on the scene.

He has still only lost to decent opposition and those were early in his career. It is reasonable to give him time and see if he can improve further. He will never be an all time great but then, few are.

With respect to him being low class etc. This is a sport that has had Mike Tyson and, let us remember, the subject of this thread, Deontay, has been apprehended for similar incidents....

Broner is on the same level as four in a row Chisora......heard it all now..

Three time world champ.........One Brit in 50 years has managed that....

But should I expect better from a Country that belittles.........Hatton, Froch , Khan......

But bigs up .......Perennial losers that spit in faces, beat up Women and get arrested for assault at press conferences...

All the reasons Britain has under-achieved..............Seem to be summed up by the attitude on this Boxing board........

That was a rant........But what a good rant it was.......... thumbsup Cool

Sorry Fatlad but I've never said Chisora is on a par with Broner in anyway except being a tw*t. You state that Chisora is a classless punk blah blah blah, but Broner somehow gets a free pass from you because be brings excitement to the sport or some such sh!t.

Nice try but a fail nonetheless

So, its not just their actions, you also take into account world titles when assessing someones "classlessness"?

Interesting. So, Broner, as a 3 time WC can't be classless and has to be substantially more so than Chis before you will count him "on the same level"? Well, Manny has 7 so, how classless can he be before you count it as "on the same level" as Chis?

P.S did you stamp your feet during the rant or just slam doors? ;-P

Haha thanks Truss for cheering me up. It was you who somehow brought up the fact Broner had world titles, as if that had any baring on the subject at hand. You could have chosen out of the ring activities, which was what was being discussed by you didn't. I just took your "stupid post" and extended the logic to its conclusion. But, if you can't take it "on the chin" on here maybe you can off?  thumbsup
