If anyone is after a good cheap keeper, without having to use up a valuable TP, Abbiati is available.

I will sell him for the £800k I paid for him if anyone wants him, subject to my injuries today

Gary Cahill. Between Cahill, Rooney and Hart, as hard to argue anyone else warrants a starting place almost automatically.

I like how GSC gets to know his Lawyers in advance, and plan for 12pm, whereas we all have to wait and see...  Whistle

England captain should ALWAYS be a CB. With Jagielka being duff, and Smalling and Jones also being duff, I give the captaincy to Gary Cahill.

In case you didn't know GSC, I have shares in a tinfoil hat company.

Unless you're referring to my Cahill Proclamation, which I stand by regardless. He's a solid CB, good communicator, could learn from Terry at Chelsea, and allows the midfield to play the game rather than listen to Stevie G's horrible whiny voice. "Yeaaaahhhh courrrrrsssssseeeeee"

If Rooney is made captain, England may as well call up Steve Bruce for his long-overdue cap. They won't be qualifying for the World Cup anyway.

Will the captaincy inspire Rooney to greater heights for England or will it be another chain tying him to the first XI. It'll be Rooney no doubt though.

Gary Cahill could be the new John Terry, in footballing terms anyway. As Azzy pointed out, he is already learning from JT at Chelsea, is easily England's best available CB, and to be honest there's no other standout possible captain.

Hart is a goalkeeper, Rooney being made captain would be a joke, and the only other candidate is Wilshere, who can't be relied on for his fitness anyway.

Like Henry, Eto'o, Ibrahimovic, Sanchez and Neymar before him, Suarez will be a wide striker to accomodate Messi.

Possibly, I have a feeling Enrique is going to shake it up a bit, at least until Messi gets back to full fitness.

Good to see Madrid and Barca are ready to tear the Spanish league a new one again. I was worried by the parity last season.

I personally would go for Rooney. He is the only one of only two England players I look at and think shows leadership traits AND can still justify his place in the side. For me there is too much focus on Rooney's World Cup performances, and ignoring his impact in qualifiers.

The other one btw is Cahill and I wouldn't be against him being captain. Joe Hart has shown nothing to suggest he can lead, and Wilshere even less.

Rooney has yet to put in even one vaguely world-class performance in an international tournament. He's scored a couple of goals, but he's no Muller. He's no Ribery. He's not even a Khedira. He is incapable of taking a team by the scruff of the neck and dragging them to victory.

I don't know whether Cahill can do that, but Rooney doesn't even warrant a place in the starting XI. There are better options for that Sheringham role.

Why does him not producing a world class performance mean he doesn't justify his place. On that basis, we have no one who should be in the side.

In that position, Rooney is by far the best player we have at our disposal. Whether he is world class or not is irrelevant, its whether there is better. For me there isn't.

It's the Kevin Pietersen syndrome where your best player takes the blame because they don't perform to their full potential.

I don't think Fifa are that far ahead any more. PES debuted a new engine last year and so this year it should be a bit more refined. I hold out hope that it can get back to being the game it was.

Fifa feels a bit formulaic now. Like you can only score certain goals. For instance in PES I could crack one from 30 yards and it'd have a chance of going in if it was caught right, in Fifa you just won't score that goal.

I've always found PES to be to kiddish and not a true reflection on Football. I'll give it a try this year but I really can't see me sticking with them.

It's cool to hate Rooney, while the Milners and John Osheas of this world can hide behind mediocrity.

I scored last night for FC Twente v Bayern Munich where a pretty poor cross from my winger came across the goal, bounced up at Neuer, hit him on the leg and went in.

Its picking your team based on performance compared to expectation, and not performance compared to each other.

Rooney at 80% is still better than the vast majority of alternatives

His place in the team has nothing to do with world class performances. It's to do with his level of performances full stop. In the last 2 years Rooney has failed to put in even a 7/10 game. I've watched every game. He's been utter shight.

In the #10 role I'd rather see any of:

Barkley
Sterling
Lallana
Townsend
Jay Rodriguez

Because each and every one will put in the effort. Rooney doesn't. He has only two states of physical readiness: overweight and incapable of keeping up, or headcase looney bin run around like Robbie Savage and forget you're playing for England. He lacks the maturity of Raheem Sterling, and he's had 74 kids by 74 different mothers already.
