Fight week in Vegas

I am going to Vegas on the 23rd of April with a group of friends as we have all turned or turn 30 this year. As luck would have it this has turned out to be fight week of the biggest match up in recent times. Unfortunately we fly back 2 days before the big event but my question is, does anyone have any recommendations of things we should/shouldn't do? Also could be nice if anyone has any vegas related boxing stories to share. As a side note, it will be my first time visiting the states.

I'd say the fight weekend will start around Thursday. There's a big difference between earlier in the week and the weekend in Vegas in general.

Go to old Vegas, visit the Hoover Dam, do some illicit nefarious activities and get those jonny's that cover the ball bag if you're doing a hooker.

DO:

Ensure you pick up all coupons/vouchers pertaining to casino's! You will find them in magazines, papers and dotted around in venues on the strip. My friends go every year and each end up gambling with around $500 worth of free chips collected from such things

Visit a show; One of the highlights of any Vegas experience is taking in one of the many famous shows along the strip. Shop around for the best deal (if you speak to the concierge they can arrange and often get good prices)..

DONT:

Get smashed before entering the casino...leave the hard drinking till after! Those same friends learnt the hard way not to get suckered into certain casino's free nature with the booze.

Begin to think a quick wedding of any sort is a good idea....not only is it very rare it turns out to be...but the myth of it being only legal in nevada is just that!

Thanks for the tips guys! I'm hoping that there'll be a real atmosphere and buzz especially towards the end of our visit as the fight approaches. Prostitiutes and weddings are not on the cards as I'm leaving my lovely girlfriend at home and I'm pretty sure she would be unimpressed with me indulging in either! If I strike it rich at the tables I might stay longer and get a ticket for the fight! (I wish!)

For this fight, you'll have to strike it rich and then some to purchase a ticket;

Unless you gain celebrity stardom whilst your there, then you can get free tickets if you wear advertising for companies!

To be honest, Mayweather fights rarely sell out in Vegas (this one most likely will, although the lower priced tickets will be a hard sell at $1,200 for a poor seat). We went to the Maywether vs. Ortiz fight, and managed to get tickets the day before from the MGM box office.

If you're a group of lads, then going to the nightclubs will be your main interest. Pure, Tryst, Tao and XS are all great bars/ clubs however, Marquee in the cosmopolitan hotel is on another level. I would recommend getting a table there, which you'll pay a premium for (but it's worth it if you're looking for female attention).

Re: casino, take advantage of the free drinks (difficult to source these during a busy period). Also, as someone alluded to above the weekend is when Vegas comes alive. The weekdays are a bit quieter.

Never been to Vegas kareem, it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but all the guys I know who have reckon its such a mad bizarre place that everyone should do it once. Enjoy fella!

Mayweather's gym is a 20 min walk or short cab from the strip although you may not be able to enter so close to the fight

Do a helicopter ride around Grand Canyon. One of the best things I have ever done.

Don't play poker in the MGM. Play at Aria or Bellagio - this is assuming you are not a high roller.
