I don't know who's advising the Swiss players in the fashion stakes, but they've had a shocker this tournament. You could use Stan's shorts as a picnic blanket while dining out on Fed's radioactive watermelon variety.
Stan's through easily enough, anyway - he must be glad that he didn't bring his Geneva form with him to RG. Mahut and Simon going the distance...

It's bad luck for Nico isn't it? Never mind, it happens.
This is meant to be a discussion! You just throw in snide one liners and insults and call anyone you disagree with a liar. It's bullying plain and simple in an attempt to stop other posters from expressing an opinion that you don't like. It obvious that you just don't like Nadal plain and simple. Any excuse to stick the knife in. Pathetic
Now aint that a fact
Yet BB has not referred to Nadal here? Not even brought him up.
This is the reason I don't swing by this website anywhere near as much as I used to. I get the impression BB (and a lot of people) don't dislike Nadal at all. It's the constant and never ending rubbish that is made-up about him by posters that is annoying. This, combined with people's inability to make any kind of distinction between the two (not liking Nadal and not liking rubbish supported by no evidence) make it very painful reading.
And it's not bullying. Not even close. If you think that's bullying then maybe an anonymous internet chat forum really isn't the place for you.

Afternoon ladies and gents.
Been informed it's a bit tetchy in here today between the usual two camps of Fed and Nadal fans. Time for simmering down please else the naughty step may beckon.
Thank you

I would just love to know how on Earth my post could be interpreted as having ANYTHING to do with Nadal.Haddie-nuff wrote:hawkeye wrote:bogbrush wrote:I know the guy who's developed his game in the meantime but isn't allowed to pass a protected guy would be disadvantaged.

Please, make my day.
I do object to the bullying statement though. It's quite nasty to say that, and if the ladies all get together then maybe abrasive old bogbrush can get nobbled as he's got a reputation for being in scrapes. Yet it is three of you slating me, so maybe it's not so clear.
If I cared about those opinions I'd get on my high horse and demand apologies, but I don't so I won't. I would appreciate a few other posters just noting this and forming opinions for yourselves, just in case it gets traction with anyone in authority.

Belovedluckyboy wrote:Yep, temp21 said it well, and that's what I meant. As usual BB would just want to have a go at Rafa or his fans.
LK, the Almagro case is a good example, Delpo is another.
It's not always about Rafa, unlike some here, as usual, would like to assume. There are more players than just Rafa who suffered a ranking drop because of injury, like Nalby in the past for example. Like what Hawkeye mentioned, the protected ranking is not really a protected ranking, so a player ranked no.-10 won't stay at no.10 when he comes back from injury. So, a player of Nalby's calibre for example, coming back from injury would very much depend on his luck to not draw a top player in his first round match. The system is not kind to players who get injured and then coming back from injury.
So again lower ranked players who play in challenger events prior to a Slam come in cold? They have to get extra gas in the legs before the first round.
Show me the benefit in that.

Return back to actually chatting about tennis. The digs followed by then the retorts followed by more retorts simply doesn't help any of you.
It continues and threads will be locked and bans will be handed out, I don't give two hoots if you've posted here for years or which tennis player you support, this is a forum in which it's here to enjoy, not to involve yourselves in pathetic arguments on a daily basis.

LK agree, qualifiers are dead beat on first round. No logic there.
Time to time a surprise might happen, but rarely these days.

Well this is all getting a bit sinister.
On topic, it definitely is harder for the qualifiers to do the business at slams these days. It's so physical now, it would be an immeasurably amazing achievement for someone to do what Becker did all those years ago.

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 5 and 6
I really don't understand what you're talking about, LK. You're comparing the top players with the challenger players who have to play qualy's? Why in the first place we're comparing the two camps? The players who play qualy's have their competitive juices already turned on when they make it to the main draw and may catch the other players cold when these other players are playing their first matches.
We're talking about injured players coming back from injury and they don't necessarily play at the Centre court even if they're former top players, so what privilege they get? They're also subjected to the luck of the draw.
We'll stop here, no point continuing with this conversation, we won't come to any agreement anyway.

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 5 and 6
It's not getting sinister Tempura. It's simply the mods are at the end of their tether having to deal with the tittle tattle arguing that goes on in here and the complete inability to take heed of their requests to pack it in.
I wish to keep these mods so if that involves a stern warning to everyone in here with a few bans to those that don't understand a simple respect of the mods then fair enough. One 24 hour ban has already been dished out and anyone else that feels the need to add a snidy jab etc will receive the 2nd.

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 5 and 6
We're not talking about a Becker kind of display, but a first or second round upset! Of course the upsets don't occur frequently, just once in a blue moon case. It happens to Berdych once in 2011. Rafa and Fed lost to some players ranked in the 100 in the first two rounds at Wimbledon whether they came through qualy's or not, so upsets do occur though rarely.

Gael is playing somewhat spasmodically .. finding some of his acute angle shots brilliantly and then following up with an ue.
Cuevas is serving well which is demoralising Montfils a bit..but hey its still early doors !!!
