Is Adrien Broner being lined up to become the world's worst 4-weight champ ever??

Adrien Broner has been handed the chance to become a four-weight champion in front of his hometown fans by the WBA.

Broner, who has won titles at super featherweight, lightweight and welterweight, is set to face fellow former world champion Khabib Allakhverdiev for the vacant WBA light welterweight title on October 3.



Not sure 'which' WBA title this will be for, but given Broner is very much at the 'Duke McKenzie' end of the triple-weight world champs list, surely there can't be many more examples of boxers handed such gravitas on a plate??

Maybe 'the machine' still considers him super-marketable, despite the shambles of the last 2 years, but boxing fans have long since recognised Broner isn't the vaunted second coming of Mayweather, so God knows who's signing his huge paycheques.

Broner is a superfeather that has only lost at welter...........Badly managed.....

Broner is the size of a natural welter/Jr welter.

He was huge at Super feather.

The fact is Broner being a 4 weight world doesn't make Broner a mockery or a joke, it makes the boxing organisations a joke who offer these title shots.

The title shot was offered and Broner said thank you very much, its as  simple as that, had Broner refused then he would have been an idiot to say no.

I seen a fair bit of Adrien Broner coming up.

The hype surronding him as the next Floyd was a bit much for me. Though I did think he showed a fair bit of talent. His fight with Rees confirmed his laziness and weakness for me.

He battered Rees.....Nobody has done a job like that on Rees.

Haha, did you not see the average Rees hit him at will as well?

Broner shook it off, but a classy boxer would of avoided the shots and embarressed Rees.

If he had no respect for his opponents power fair enough, but why get punched when you can avoid it?

Did you watch the fight truss or read about it?

So he beat Rees better than anybody else ever has...remained in his comfort zone and because of that it's something to bash him with..

He got hit loads Truss, you are missing the point.

He fought the same tatic against Maidana. Served him well didn't it.

All I was pointing out was his obvious flaws.

At the smaller weights he worked a lot more and seemed to know when to and when to take a breather. At welter he's been overworked by Maidana and Porter and not shown anywhere like the offence that would be needed to win a fight. Especially against Porter where he just let Porter out work him.

He did drop Porter in the last round though and had Maidana hurt too so he does have power and is very talented. He's very young still too. Maybe he's being judged differently because of his attitude but he's still got a lot to offer as seen on the weekend.

He beat Gavin Rees easily and Lockett threw the towel in. Using Rees to disparage Broner is idiotic.

Served him well in his Maidana and Porter fights.

Truss in my Powerlifting background, I was told to treat 60kg the same as 200. Attack it like it is a heavy set. Then when I go to the heavier weight I have made good pratice with my form.

Broner should of did the same.

Mayweather gets in the comfort zone, but not like that.

Broner was never a natural super feather. Out of 25 fights at 'superfeather' he made 130 5 times.

Broner isn't a welterweight – he’s a lightweight who boiled down to make weight. At 135, he was big and strong enough to walk fighters down behind a high guard. His single, sharp-shooting shots from range were enough to control fighters at that weight.

Being the arrogant jackass he is, he elected to jump straight up to welter and instantly lost the attributes that marked him out as someone to watch. He squeaked past Malignaggi and took a royal pasting from Maidana. Like Berto, he’s a poor Floyd tribute act who lacks both the humility and work ethic to reach anything like top level. His actual record is good but little more. He’s known more for making pornos and wiping his ass with dollar bills than he is a fighter.

I think he's better known as a fighter...

I know him more as a vvanker, but each to their own.
