The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be? king

Thomond,

Do you not see Green Lantern being more similar to comic book movies like Spiderman, which don't seem to have the dark edge of what the Batman movies had which have changed the way these movies are perceived?

Iron man wasn't an incredibly dark movie but was still very good(or I thought so anyway). Comic book movies are either very bad or very good there is very few movies that are between that. It will almost certainly be a financial success and I think it has the base work to be a good movie.

Munsty I fully agree. the batman films are all down to the genius of Christopher Nolan, who also made inception and the prestige - 2 exceptional films.

+1. Iron Man was a poor movie too. I've really only enjoyed the latest Batman movies and the X-Men series. Anything else is just a guilty pleasure.

I have to admit that from the trailor I saw of Green Lantern, I didn't think it actually looked that good. Definitely not as good as x men anyway.

I liked Inception but after thinking about it, it wasn't as good as it was made out to be. The Prestige was a good watch but it was far too easy to work out to make it anything more.

Batman has been fantastic though and he achieved that rare feat of making the sequel better than the original. I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt is inspired casting.

The first Ironman was good but I didn't really enjoy the second one. The sequel to the Hulk was good in my opinion. Edward Norton gave that film a great improvement.

I can't see Reynolds having the range of acting skills for us to take his character too seriously. From the adverts I've seen, they seem to be trying to make it a funny goofy start, which I've little interest in.

Captain America is out this summer as well.

The Spiderman movies were poor, especially the last one. The last X-men movie in the Trilogy was shocking. Superman was poor though probably did worse as it came out just after Batman Begins, so suffered because of that.

The less said about the Fantastic Four the better.

Stag,

I did not say I did not like them but I thought that Inception wasn't as good as it was made out to be, though it was very good.

The Prestige was good but like I said it was too easy to read and I always felt a step ahead.

I thought Inception went on for too long and they tried to over complicate it. Having said that I still really enjoyed it.

haven't seen prestige so can't comment.

Munsty I agree with you on the 3rd X-men film, really wasn't good!

I don't think so Stag. You knew there were two Christian Bales for a long long time. I thought that Nolan was so desperate to leave clues, he actually gave the whole thing away.

Thomond,

I agree on Origins which is another that people smoke very highly of.

Its something I have thought about for many many years.

I have a friend who is a film director (well shorts at the moment) and we do corporate stuff together (as well as high quality but low cost training).

I have had a few ideas for films in the past.

Stand,
Why dont you put a big picture of Trevor Brennan, holding the HC, on yer wall mate? That should inspire the locals. He runs a good Rugby Pub too. Decent pints in it, just dont diss them like. 8)

Seriously mate, just ask every traveling rugby fan that visits, to donate something for the Pub. A scarf, a jersey, a banner, a flag, a cap, a program - whatever. It will soon fill the Pub up with rugby memorobilia and give it that feel. It would build up over time and make it really feel rugby-centric. We did it for a Pub in de Dam and it's just perfect.

Golden Rule is - Rugby 1st, all other sports 2nd. Even if there are 10/20 soccer fans and only 2 rugby fans in it, at the time. 2 big screens (maybe a smaller one for soccer) would be a plus and you would need it to bring in the much-needed coffers. Munsty's FB idea is a top one. Promote it on all the FB fans blogs. Tell them anyone who donates a jersey etc - gets pints. That would be a winner.

I, for one, will visit and support your Pub when in Belfast man. And I'll bring me mates. We drink a lot, so make sure you are well stocked. The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub 1479719350 The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub 2055835545

So, we got the draw Mickado, Huggie and I wanted. The only change being Glasgow for Edinburgh. Grand.

Montpellier, Glasgow and Bath Tours. Oh yes.

Pete,
Im betting on LI to win that group. No reason why not. See you in the QF's mate?

Toulouse to walk theirs. And I'll have to think about the others.

P.S. Got a text from Ummm, today. He said: "Toulouse? Who da phhok are Toulouse? Connacht a certainty for the QF's"

Gotta love that man.

Hobo,

My goal is to be a published author but more and more I've thought about dabbing my hand into script writing. I'd obviously need a lot more experience with that style of writing but it might just suit me as my writing is very dialogue based.

I have had some ideas as well.

Munsty I have similar goals with regard to becoming a novelist/author. I've also dabbled about with script writing not just with films but also comedy tv pilots (1 joke every 14 seconds etc). Problem is I've spent the last 3 years doing a degree I never really had an interest in, so I've no real background if I do want to continue my writing.

I started my 'proper' career as a creative copywriter. I love writing, but novels require soooooo much discipline, a huge amount of time and is quite a solitary process. Plus, after all that, you need a generous dollop of luck to get published.

If you love it, though, go for it!

Willy,

What degree are you doing? Anyway, while a degree in Creative Writing might be a help, you can't teach someone the ability to make people laugh or create a good story. They can be improved on but not taught.

One idea I've had is a movie about inter-railing. Considering the amount of people that have done it, I think it's gotten very little exposure. The landscapes and variety of cultures gives so much potential, it's crazy.

Economics with Accounting. A couple of law modules have given me a decent inkling into that world so I have threads and plenty of background knowledge to bring in. Decriptions and plotlines are relatively easy for my overactive imagination. My dialogue is far too wooden and artificial for my liking though, which is why I wondered if a further course would help.

What I've learned this year is that I'll never be able to manipulate language like some of the writers I've read. It just isn't my style. What I can do though is create a good story and work the dialogue in, though I do need to be able better represent a wider range of people.

I used to do humorous stories but that has changed. What I don't want to become is someone who is stuck in the same genre.

I'm counting no chickens yet Gibbo, but I have to admit I am more confident of our chances of progressing from this pool than I have been the last 2 seasons. How the fixtures fall will be key for a lot of teams aspiring to make the knockout phase. Thinking about it, I would say this would be the best set of fixtures for us -

R1 - Racing Metro (h)
R2 - Edinburgh (a)
R3 - Cardiff Blues (h)
R4 - Cardiff Blues (a)
R5 - Edinburgh (h)
R6 - Racing Metro (a)

I think that would give us a really good chance of controlling the group. Obviously there is a lot that can happen between now and the start and once the competition is on, but I am feeling pretty positive about how we will go this year.

Should add I just finished 2nd year on the Actuary course. (Case you wonder how I know all this laughing )

I couldn't write a novel. It would be poetry and short stories for me, but I haven't written anything for ages.

There's not much money in being a poet or a short story writer, but if you're looking to make money, creative writing in general isn't the best career choice. There's probably more money to be made from journalism.

I find short story writing incredibly difficult. You really have to be economical with words - painting a picture with a phrase or two, where you would normally use 5 or 6 paragraphs. Alan Bennett is the master at this. I love reading clever short stories to see how the author copes with these limitations.

You're right on that Luckless. To be honest though, I'd never like to be a full time writer. I'd always like it to be something that I still enjoy and there not be too much pressure on it.
