I thought the Arsenal-Tottenham game was closer than many seemed to see it, Tottenham had a really good spell from the time they went 1-0 down to HT. But the red card, easy decision, killed the contest. Arsenal's best result of the season and gives them a sizable advantage in the race for fourth. Still not seeing them as remotely near title contenders. City look to have it nailed-on.

Liverpool are in monumental trouble. They were fortunate to get a point yesterday. They now enter the part of the season that is going to be very trying - 13 games (including yesterday's one) in 44 days. A heavily taxing ordeal on their thin squad that is out of form and already looking fatigued. And their next two games are v Arsenal and City. It's looking like a very uphill battle just to get fourth.

Of course the schedule is taxing for every club, but City's envious squad depth will carry them through.

Crucial win for Chelsea yesterday, they've got a few softer games coming up in the league to build momentum.

Leeds 0-1 Arsenal - Saka scored the only goal. I didn’t watch to no idea what the match was like.

Manchester United 0-0 Newcastle - very open game and it was entertaining to watch. Rashford missed a sitter right at the end. Manchester United needs a top class striker, CR7 is washed.

Yes, a beautiful goal. Brilliant assist by Alisson - not just his kick but being alert to the opportunity. Whilst VVD had a very solid game, I felt City sometimes didn't help themselves by trying to get the ball to Haaland when others were better placed or even unmarked.

Means the Invincibles (greatest team eva!) are safe for another year. Leeds/Arsenal sounded like carnage.

Table taking proper shape now. The current top 8 are probably going to be the final top 8, save for perhaps West Ham, and it's just a matter of sorting it in the right order. Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham are perhaps a little high at the moment.

Forest already look relegated, fair to say. Only five points from ten and their next three games are Brighton/Liverpool/Arsenal. Leicester are in equal trouble, but have the quality to pull themselves out, I'm just amazed they've persisted with Rodgers this long.

Chelsea 1-1 Manchester United - United will be gutted and relieved after Casemiro’s goal in injury time rescued a point.
United dominated but couldn’t score. Chelsea took the lead after McTomminay gave a penalty away, which Jorginho scored.

Looks like the end days of Klopp's Liverpool now, as they lose at home to relegation-threatened Leeds with a turgid display. Tired looking squad that was badly in need of investment over the summer, which didn't arrive. Mane's exit was well-timed.

Good comeback from Tottenham v Bournemouth, and Newcastle are looking every bit as though they're genuine top four contenders as they hammered Palace. Tough return for Potter to Brighton as Chelsea took a smashing.

Manchester United 1-0 West Ham - the impressive Marcus Rashford with the only goal also his 100th goal for the club. Rashford seems reborn under EtH.
Manchester remain wasteful in front of goal and needed some DDG saves to secure the win.

Seems strange EtH’s favourites seem to be Rashford, Martial and Antony. Leaves Sancho in the cold, he didn’t get a chance today despite no Martial or Antony

Aston Villa 3-1 Manchester United - Villa two goals inside 12 minutes. Manchester toothless and idealess more much of the game. Villa sealed the points with a breakaway goal in the second half.

Cristiano Ronaldo is absolutely washed. Terrible attitude. Offers nothing to the team and seemed more intent on fighting with Tyrone Mings…

Was fully expecting Utd to pull one back at the end of the first half. Staggered that Villa didn't capitulate though and didn't try to sit on the lead either.

Hassenhuttl's gone from Southampton. Has had four years in the job, but hasn't really taken them anywhere despite some signs of promise early on.

The relegation battle is, once again, very tight with just 6 points separating 11th and 20th.

ONly just over 1/3rd of the season gone though - it's still in the phase where a couple of wins or a couple of losses can move you 5 places up or down. If you look at the goal difference, it's clear that there are 4 teams really struggling, while several of the others have just been on the wrong end of tight results.

Going to be interesting to see how this mid-season hiatus affects the form of the different teams, especially comparing those with most of the squad away at the WC, and those who have most of their players still around.
