Midlands Open Invitation
I mentioned this in an earlier thread, but now North Weald Open has been cancelled quite keen to promote this for anyone in South West/East or Midlands/North West who fancies 36 holes in the Cotswolds for 20 sheets (bargain!) Open to anyone 18 h'cap and below. I'm intending to enter this, if anyone else fancies a meet up (poss night out in Cheltenham night before for a few beers and a Ruby) let me know.
Link is below, entries need to be in by 20th July - comp takes place on Sunday 21st Aug. I will give them a buzz this week just to ascertain whether the numbers are looking okay.

Re: Midlands Open Invitation
I'm signing up this week. Experienced the best & worst aspects of an open yesterday. The 4bbb at Hillside was an absolute joy, brilliant golf weather and the course in terrific condition £52.50 each including lunch. The other pair were good company too. We even sneaked a free front 9 on Saturday early evening. So that was the upside
On the downside the twin monsters of slow play and dubious scoring reared their ugly heads. Our 12.54 tee time saw us not tee off until after 1.30 and finish at 5 to 7 (yes a 5 and a half hour round). Quite frankly there should be stocks on the driving range at the 50 yard mark and the perpetrators who can't complete a 4bbb round in 4 hours should be strapped in and the rest of the field be allowed to thin mid irons right at them.
With regard to the scoring, not that it mattered to me personally as we werent in the hunt and far be it from me to accuse anyone of cheating but a pair shot 47 points...only to be pipped by another pair (coincidentally on the SAME tee time) shooting 48 points. Thats everyone in the 4 ball shooting net 66 and
PERFECT dovetailing. Hmmmmm!! Can't help thinking there may have been a Mulligan or several or even a couple of mutual mid- fairway gimme's!!
Would I do it again though, damn right I would, although I would like them to take a firmer line on slow play next year.

Re: Midlands Open Invitation
Right Chaps it seems like we have 4
(Is there a 'reply all' function on the PM-ing, i'm assuming you all didn't see each other's replies to me? Davie?)
If you guys reply to everyone with your full name (i know some of you have done this but i can't remember who...) then the others can add a note saying who we wish to be grouped with, they can pick the pairs.
I think some said the went for a mid-tee time, there can't be too much variation for a 36 hole comp so that cool with me.
Then we'll be away...
I'm only in Brum so will just be a day trip but may well go for dinner afterwards...

Simple rule. If its not on the diary it doesnt get priority over golf. Then just manage your diary on your iphone, keep it locked and dont give the other half the access code.

There's not much that's EVER gonna get priority over golf. I'd have to return home from work to the visage of Megan The Fox lying spreadeagled on my bed wearing nothing but a smile to prevent me from my favourite pasttime
