Post by Young_Towzer Sun 17 Jul 2011, 12:10 am

Always stuck by him and knew he'd be too fast and slick for Murray, i'd love the Rios fight as a fightfan and Mitchell fan, i think he's made to order for Kevin. Respect to Murray who showed the true heart of a lion, but i've always said it, when he boxes Mitchell IS world class, Rios is slow, sluggish, unbelievably easy to catch, and a fighter as fast with underrated power as Kev will pick him off imo. What a fight as well!

Takes more of a bloke to admit you were wumming, i knew Kev if prepared would smash him and the likes of you sat behind the monitor call him a quitter. If he'd lost to Murray i would of come on here and said i was wrong, i knew i wouldn't be though.

I'll see if I can find it online in the week. Lately I've gotten to the point where I rarely watch fights live, there've been so many duds. Credit to him where it's due though, and to yourself for sticking with him.

He might a bit nutty most of the times but he's spot on here. It was very good. Not as good as Rodriguez vs Wolak on ESPN on Friday though.

Boxed World class is a bit much he was probably behind on the cards going into round 7. He may have been square but I couldn't make a case for him being ahead.

I thought Mitchell was easily ahead, landed the better punches. Murray just got him in an head lock and held his head, i'm delighted Kev pulled the stoppage out because the referee was all for Murray as well as the judges. I was right anyway so now it's bedtime, goodnight kev, my once 606v2 pal haha.

I had Mitchell 1 rnd ahead going into the 8th, it was a extremely tight fight and was going to be a nightmare for any judge to score.

Good performance by Mitchell but the fact Murray is a crude version of Kats (not something you often hear) it was worrying how early he was able to get to Mitchell in the fight. Very close fight that Mitchell deserved to win but if even Murray get to Mitchell he's got problems when he steps up again.

Your comparisons baffle me...

To compare a fight where a fighter stops a guy in the 8th round after out boxing him, to a fight where it was clearly a very close fight which most of the country felt Degale won... is simply odd.

The Degale dispute will be solves in time as he has a very hard fight coming up and if he wins it then will Groves be confident in taking his Euro belt off him?... hmmm what do you think?

Did most of the country think Degale won or are you simply trying to cover your back?

As far as i'm concerned Degale and Groves should have waited until they faced eachother, in a fight like that neither had much to really gain from it nor do they have much to gain from a rematch

You need quite a talent to take that kind of lay-off, live that badly and put in a performance of that quality.

Excellent work from Mitchell, who certainly confounded me. When he boxes, rather than gets drawn into a punch-up, he shows great ability, and he needs to remember that every time he gets into the ring. Let's see an eliminator for a proper belt (is the WBC version not vacant just now?) and something similar from him at the higher level.

On a personal note, I owe Murray and Mitchell a huge debt for rescuing what was looking like a comically bad evening. Friends who I hadn't seen for yonks had invited me up at the very last minute, and I thought that it would be a great evening with some fantastic action. After Gavin-Woodhouse (someone's getting too big for their boots there, if you ask me), Bellew-McKenzie and Burns-Cook, I was just about ready to get an early flight home, but things improved greatly after that. A great note on which to finish.

Second Captain on the Mitchell vs Murray fight rescuing the card.

I had Mitchell up by 2 before the stoppage.

Can see why people scored different though, alot of the rounds were tight and tough to score.

i'd only given murray the 2nd and 5th, so had mitchell 3 up, but a few could have gone either way... it was quantity v quality.

Funnily enough as i was watching it, although i had murray behind it always looked to me like was going to wear mitchell down eventually. As it was, it was murray who couldn't keep the pressure on, and once mitchell had the time and room he took him apart.

I've always rated mitchell and he was impressive last night, but he looks a small lightweight and isn't as good defensively as he is offensively. Regardless, of his troubles, he looked boy against man against katsidis, and i worry about him against world class lightweights.

all credit to him for last night though, he showed heart and skill

He was possibly behind or level due to a difficult few rounds fro 3 to 5 but he then clearly atarted to impose him self on the fight and looked the better and then stopped him in the 8th... it was a hard fight but he outboxed him while using more versatility during the fight... I would say it was a close fight until he changed his tactic and then he started to win it easy.

To be fair I didn't think Mitchell would be able to stop Murray but he came in looking in the best shape of his life, looked truly incredible (No Homo)
Murray is definately one tough SOB but Mitchell looked very good.
People aren't giving him a chance against Rios because of the Katsidis fight, Rios isn't quite as come forward constant pressure like Katsidis as that is all he can do and can get to him straight away. Mitchel could possibly outbox Rios as a lot of people think is possible and Mitchell proved he can dig at LW so I could see that being a terrific fight, but think Rios would be abel to grind him down imo.

Mitchell will take him to school (Rios), he's miles faster, a better boxer and has the power to hurt him, Antillon aint in Mitchell's league and is definitely not world level and he hurt him, Rios is just to slow and predictable for my liking, he really is ultra 1 dimensional.

No, I'm a pink clam man myself. Careful what you wish for though Truss. A wise person once said: "don't wish too hard because they may come true..."

Hang on...no, that was just T'Pau...

i think a word should be said about the way these two handled themselves in the run up and even right after fight, Murray was very congratulatory and Mitchell very generous to Murray after, none of this Haye v Wlad nonsense which led only to a shi** fight.
