Surrey vs Leics (CB40)
First topic message reminder :
Adams has named 14 man squad
Hamilton Brown (Captain)
Steven Davies (Wicket Keeper)
Jason Roy
Zander de Bruyn
Tom Maynard
Matthew Spriegel
Zafar Ansari
Yasir Arafat
Chris Schofield
Jade Dernbach
Gareth Batty
Gary Wilson
Stuart Meaker
Tim Linley
Seems certain that Wilson and Viscount will miss out. Possibly also Meaker if Adams continues with the policy of playing 5 batting spinners (or quasi spinners in some cases?) which has proved very successful.
The absence of Ramps from the line up continues to provide supporting evidence for the theory that Ramps was added to the squad for one match in order to be dropped after the incident at Cheltenham.

No-one is going to want to come to the Kia Oval to play the Lions in the semis, that's for sure!

Re: Surrey vs Leics (CB40)
Another tremendous CB40 performance.
Another wonderful innings from le Roi
The question a year ago was ''Have you heard of him?''
Now it's ''Who hasn't heard of him?''
Very good support and not for the the first time from Spriegel with the bat. Very fine bowling returns as well from Dernbach and the ex Lancs player*.
Even though next week's CB40 game against Durham is academic as far as our table place goes, still very important to win and maintain the momentum.
* To be fair to Depressed, his strong objections to the ex Lancs player have always been to his appearances in our County Championship side rather than in the one day stuff.

Evening All! Another first rate performance. Le Roi superb innings again. And very considerate to save his best for Guildford's return to the salt mines.
Excellent that Dernbach seems back to his very best + strong performances from Spriegel with the bat - and Schofield with the ball - again - as has been said.
Interesting that the ploy of having 5 spinners has worked yet again. Try giving a couple of them an over or two. If that doesn't work move on the to the next; if all else fails moves on to Schofield. Batty quite often bowls quite tidily in latter stages of the innings.
With a home tie in the back I wonder whether Adams will change anything for the match against Durham - eg by giving Meaker a go. Or even trying Ramps instead of the Brain who seems to be going through a thin patch......

Or they might not change the side much if at all but bat Ansari higher up the order and make sure that Spriegel and Ansari get to bowl plenty of overs...

Hate to put a dampener on things but The Brain - again - spent a relatively long time over an innings of less than a run a ball with no boundaries: 17 off 23. Can we afford this luxury when we play the semi?

I don't know, simon, 17 off 23 when Roy was going so well at the other end is fine, as was Maynard's 33 off 41.
I was having a look at the stats and was surprised that Hyphen has only averaged 24 in the CB40 this year, I guess it's because he hasn't made any really big scores. He's got us off to a flying start 5 times out of 10 but the other 5 have been 2 or lower!
Btw - Jason Roy getting 2 successive one day hundreds is the first time a Surrey player has done that in 10 years!

I assume the player before Jason Roy was Ali Brown. If so, that helps answer last season's question as to whether Roy would prove to be a Brown or a Benning.
Apologies for the lateness of the post - can't even blame it on a marathon game of Owzat!
