After discussions with FOF, welcome to the first season of the 606v2IPL.

Basically this will run similarly to other Sports Games with every member of the league taking charge of an IPL side and competing for the title. Firstly I would like to see how much interest there would be in this league.

There are 10 slots available as there are ten teams (Franchises), however I will be taking one of the franchises so 9 other spaces remain. (Now 0 left)

Just tired.Unable to think of any tactics after two shocking defeats to the teams that were ranked the lowest before the respective matches

Right, got my team in, and I actually think my team matches up pretty well to CSK, but it's going to be a tough one. Can we get enough runs on the board? Can we get Hussey early (Bresnan got him in the last Ashes a couple of times...)?

Don't bother with a vote for Liam, unless the score is set at 4-3.

If there is a 4-3 we will have to think about it. The random idea doesn't sit well with me.

The 4-3 ones are the ones we need to sort out.

I know Mumbai vs Kolkata was 3-4 last week and I think one of the matches is that close again.

disagree with random generator, it's just that, random, and thus doesn't take into accounts tactics and such. We could just give the win to the side who's 4-3 up (and this has nothing to do with me currently winning 4-3 in week 6 )

Liam hasn't voted, Sainty and Gregers haven't justified their votes (and don't think Kiwi justified the last two either).

Liam didn't vote, shanky didn't justify his votes, neither did Fists for the first three matches but he did justify them for the crucial match 5.

Really not sure what to do with the 4-3s, and don't think I can stay impartial on this one, but surely a random coin toss would be fairer than a draw. Better still, why don' we draw a Bernoulli(4/7) for each of them? ie the side who's currently leading has a 4 in 7 chance of taking the win, otherwise it's a draw.

That could work. I'm trying to stay impartial which is hard when one of them is my match.

If ALL of the coaches involved are happy for them to be draws then we could just go for that? Especially as everyone voting on them has said how close they would be

I'm trying hard to convince myself that I'm being impartial here, but I don't see a draw as the fairest option, but if everyone else agrees to it than I'll agree too.

Reviewing my recent votes, there seems to be a growing trend towards judging the tactics rather than the teams, ie for the first few games I went mostly on relative strengths of both line-ups, but over the last couple of weeks I seem to be voting in the side whose tactics I preferred (providing they had a competitive team out, obviously).

I'm still surprised that since addressing my 'weak' batting line up by getting in Dilshan I have lost one and possibly drawn one!

Over to everyone else, your thoughts?

I mainly go on strength of the lineup in relation to the conditions. Tactics don't bother me too much really, unless there are some shockers.

Hmm we need to have a think about these draws.

If it's needed I have set up a Bernoulli simulator of random coin tosses (admittedly it's coded in Maple which is pretty shocking but it gets the job done )

I tend to look at lineups in relation to the conditions 1st, plus the toss (on a couple of matches I'd have voted the other way if the toss had been reversed). Then if it's still close and I think I'd have opted for different tactics I "downgrade" the tactics I disagree with.

As far as draws go, I'm inclined to let them stand at 4-3. And maybe "fine" the non-voter 1 vote for the next round?

I'm just about to type up the reasons for my other 2 votes. I was far too drunk post the RWC final yesterday to type them up sorry.

And as far as simulating the final vote goes, I can code it up in SAS pretty easily - and then get someone else to supply a pseudo random number seed.

Well, as I am trailing 4-3 in my game this week I don't think my impartial vote on what to do would really be fair and stand up to any sort of scrutiny so I would be happy to go with what everyone else agrees to do.

Just a quick aside, next year I'm thinking of running an EPL. This would be made up of 12 teams (the 6 winners of the domestic t20, the 5 runners up in those years and one other to make it an even number)
