also river has been left out

Agree with the likely team, although I'd pick The Viscount ahead of Meaker

Yikes!
Hadn't heard it was as bad as that.
Know Gums was struck on the foot early on whilst batting yesterday. Churchy thought at first he might retire hurt but he stuck it out even though still suffering. Gums didn't field today. Churchy hoped that was just a precaution so he could rest up for tomorrow.
In an interview the other day on Surrey tv, Adams comments that different players have produced CB40 match winning performers in various games and wonders whether ''someone else might come to the party'' on Sunday. Perhaps a premonition and an opportunity for Wilson? Maybe although I'm sure we all hope Gums makes it.

I'd rather have a half fit Wine Gums who can't run than the drinks carrier! My general feeling about this match is whoever bats first will win.

Whilst Wine Gums would be a massive loss, I'm more sympathetic to Wilson than some of you chaps. He's done ok for Ireland in the one day stuff - sometimes against decent opposition - and had very little opportunity for us this season in that format.
Dry but a lot of very dark clouds here at the moment. Desperately hope it won't be weather affected ....

The Sun is out in Chichester too!
Come on the lads! great result against Northants this last week too
The only dampner is the weather for both today & the coming week...
Still, whatever the final outcome, definitely some promising signs of better times ahead

Guildford usually writes with impeckabull grama and sintacks - so it can only be the beer talking - unless of course he has left the glasses at home.

Thanks generally, Corporal.
More a case of chunky fingers on a little blackberry than a lot of beer. Honest!
Looking pretty good so far. Good knocks from the top 3. Shame they couldn't go on. Gums now starting to motor. Poor fielding from the Sharks ....

Not sure it's a good idea for the Brain to come in after Schofield was out. Ansari for example might have been a better bet...

228 off 40 overs? ... that's a bit average isn't it?
Oh, I see.
In which case, that's quite impressive.
In the bag, I would say. What can possibly go wrong now...

Just got in, this is a bit good isn't it? Superb from everyone with the bat and now with the ball. The first extra conceded was from Schofield just now and he got a stumping off it!

Well played, sirs.
Looks like it's going to be Yokels v Sophisticates at Lords then.
You can't possibly lose; they don't exactly have a good record in finals.

I have to work
Really hope it doesn't rain and we get a full game in. I can't see our side being intimidated by the big day, I hope that they will thrive on it.

Just got in. Excellent result for the lads.
Batting excellent throughout, especially wine gums
Remarkable that with the exception of Batty pretty much all the bowling was done by players who barely feature in the cc (Spriegel, Schofield) or don't bowl much anyway in the cc (Hyphen). Or who have not bowled well in the cc (Arafat).
Hope Ansari was good in the field as he didn't get much of a look in otherwise!
Well done to Adams for the team selection.

Gollum seems to have transformed himself into something of a one day specialist, which is good to see. The best thing about today was that everyone got runs culminating in an excellent partnership between Brain and Wine Gums, we don't need one man to do all the work every time as our batting just keeps on coming at you, even down to Ansari at 8 we are capable of hitting boundaries. I think our only chance of winning at Lord's is to bat first and create 'scoreboard pressure' again as our bowling isn't good enough to restrict opposition first up!

Not that it's of vital national importance but Surrey web site says Schofield took 5 wickets while BBC says 4. It comes down to whether Khan was stumped or run out.... Anyone get to see this?

Corporal - back now with my fatfingers laptop!
Yes, Ansari was very good in the field. We all were but Gaffer especially. He was only eclipsed by - no surprises here, Carrot - Le Roi

Very fine team performance indeed.
All the top six getting double figures and four exceeding 30 - Hyphen and Davo got us off to a good start (with help from two dropped catches) and the regulars carried it on.
Bowling wise - Spriegs made a good early breakthrough and Schoey finished things off exceptionally well with a fourfer (unlucky not to get five as a run out off his bowling was originally shown as a stumping). In between and probably the best was Nora who applied the brakes after the Sharks hit out against the Viscount and deserved at least his two wickets.
As for the final team selection - yes, good work by Adams. Interestingly to some perhaps, the team listed on the printed scorecards included neither Batty or Ansari but Meaker and Jordan instead!
