"Stuart Broad has been ruled out of the remainder of England's home season, as well as the five-match ODI series in India next month, after sustaining a muscle tear to his right shoulder. He suffered the injury while bowling during the tied fourth ODI at Lord's on Sunday, and will now miss both the final match in Cardiff next Friday, and the two Twenty20s against West Indies, which he was due to captain."

Finn bowled really well from what i saw of him so i have confidence of englands depth, despite it being a shame he will miss them

Poor lad.

I seriously think the upcoming series will be another "series too far" for Eng. They've played too much and should be rested on not put on tour straight away in my view. No wonder people are dropping out injured. We've been there before and it can make for a tough tour, thank god it is a short one.

Probably good news in the long run - we get to see his replacement in action, and it allows him a rest before the winter series begin. Agree with the post above that there are too many matches played.

never mind yes it is a blow, but it gives someone else a go, someone like finn, and i assume woakes would be in the squad as well.

England have clearly stated that they arent calling up anyone.Yet you "assume" that Woakes will be called up.So now think who needs to grow up? 🤦

i'm trying to kick up a fuss here, but if he told you then how is that England clearly saying they will not be calling in a replacement?

I don't think it will matter to be honest. I am not being negative, but England won't have enough to win an ODI series in India. KP being back will certainly help a lot (Calm down Gregers, it is only an opinion Wink ), but is Morgan going to be fit for that series... I can't remember if he has been ruled out or not? He will be a huge loss if he isn't because of the spinning conditions down there.

Anyway, all I hope for is some improvement from them in this ODI series from the World Cup. I want to see them be aggressive in the PP overs, I want to see Trott and Cook score at over a run a ball and show the ability to go through the gears and I want to see our seamers bowl some good variations and yorkers. I don't mind us losing the series as long as I can see improvement from the World Cup in the Sub continent.

He told me on twitter that the England Management has clearly said so.

JD
Both Mogs and Broady have been ruled out.

Will Broad miss all the one-dayers in India? If he is it's a massive blow for England. Finn will now get a little run in the side.

Yep, Broad is out until at the very earliest the T20's in India after the ODI's but more likely he won't play for England again until the Pakistan series. Good chance for Finn/Onions/whoever else to step up and see what they can do in Indian conditions. More crucial will be who we have playing as our 2nd/3rd spinners - Borthwick? Rashid? Panesar? Flatter pitches will be a good chance for people like Buttler and Stokes to give it a good whack. I agree with JDizzle in that I don't mind what happens if we show some improvement.

He is way too predictable for the shorter formats IMO.He shouldnt play unless it is a green top.And even on a green top we have better options IMO.

Woakes is a test match bowler, line and length gets wacked in the shorter format and that's what he bowls.
