Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
Brees or Sanchez??
Normally a no-brainer, but Brees is up against the Bears and Sanchez is against the Jags. Both at home.
I need help, i'm 40 points behind in the Projected Scores

You're right, a no brainer, Brees all day.
Jets could choke Jags all day and spend most of the second half killing time.
Brees is almost guaranteed to get you 280 yards and 3TDs

Ok, fair enough, although i was impressed with the job the Bears D did on Ryan last w/e.
One more for you...How about Mark Ingram (CHI) or AJ Green (@DEN)?

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
Tough one for me that.
Always prefer RB as flex but the Bears are OK against the run and Ingrams head could be a complete mess after the goal line stop last Thursday - he's only 21.
Then again the Bungals didn't bring Green into Sundays game much but when they did he responded witha 40 odd yard TD catch, he should get more chances as the weeks progress and they are playing the Broncs this week.
I think I'd take a chance on Green....

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
Two more questions to throw out there, as the thread is already here;
Schaub (@Miami) - Should be solid, and hopefully no repeat of the two interceptions this week, Or
Grossman (Arizona) - picked him up for potential for this week from the FA list.
Secondly, TE's. Slightly disappointing offense from the Rams in week one so no chance for Kendricks to show much. But, do I stick with him this week away at the Giants or take a punt on the Bills continuing to utilise Chandler versus the Raiders?

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
On the one hand, Schaub's got AJ to throw to. On the other, Arizona is a terrible, terrible defence. Patrick Peterson will be a massive playmaker at corner - eventually. But he's definitely not that yet, and, well, while Newton is an amazing athlete, how much of his performance is on him and how much on Arizona's D? food for thought.
As for TEs, I think stick with Kendricks. I have reservations about Caddy's ability to be a no.1 back (last year when he was our starter, he was averaging 2.5 yards a carry), so the Rams will be forced to be a pass-first offence until SJax gets back (IMO), and since Amendola's out for a while, I'd expect Bradford to look at Kendricks pretty often.
As for the Bears D running all over Matt Ryan... I've said since they lost Harvey Dahl that I think they'll be really soft in the middle of their offensive line - their starting RG last week was drafted as a tackle, and before last week had 0 regular starts and only 4 appearances - all in '09. The starting centre had never has a start either. On the other hand, the Saints have the best guard tandem in the league and vet Olin Kreutz snapping the ball, they're going to be a lot, lot stronger in the middle than Atlanta were.

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
I wouldn't say the Arizona D is terrible, Paterson may not be there yet along with a number of other rookies in the league (a symptom of the lockout ?), but the Cards were shredded by one man and that man is one of the most talented WR to have played the game in the last 10 years.
Perhaps the Cards gave him too much one or one coverage but the schemes are the coaches baby and no doubt there'll be working on that.
The fact the D line held a vary capable RB unit to 74 yards from 27 attempts shows there are some positives, also, the Panthers gave up 10 penalties forcing Newton into a pass plays and their 3rd down conversion rate of 3-11 isn't spectacular.
I would probably say they played well as a defensive unit but made a couple of errors that led to Carolina TDs, now it's the coaches job to get rid of those errors....

For one of my teams I've got to choose between Jay Cutler and Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB...
Then have to pick three from Hillis, Foster (DNP last week), Benson (20 points last week) and Fred Jackson (projected 30 this week but scored 11 last week).

The stop wasn't on Ingram and I doubt he's that mentally fragile TBH.

Which 2: Big Ben (Seahawks), Stafford (Chiefs), Flacco (@Titans), Sanchez (Jags) not sure Sanchez is really in the running but after what the Ravens managed against the Steelers I'm considering him above Roethlisberger and with Berry out for the year I'm thinking the Lions could score big.
Dez Bryant or Pierre Thomas or LeGarrette Blount?
Foster won't play if he doesn't practice.

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
Blount SHOULD be the highest scoring of the last three if Greg Olson doesn't implement such a ridiculous gameplan as he did last week. But there's no guarantee of that, so Blount is a risky pick. I'm hoping, though, that the loss will make Olson wake up a little and give the ball to Blount more than five times the whole game :/
If you don't like the risk though, I'd definitely take Bryant over Thomas

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
Thomas. But purely as I am relying on him to have a big game this week
If fit I would definitely play Bryant, but looks like he's still struggling, so you've got to think his workload will be managed even if he does play. In which case the better bet is Blount but risky given his useage last week. So Thomas for a safe bet this week.

Is it a good idea to drop Pierre Garcon and pick up Devery Henderson or Jordy Nelson? And should Henderson/Nelson start above Bryant/Blount/Thomas?

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
again, depends if Olson comes to his sense. If yes (and I really think he will), Blount is probably still your best option... but I'd take Henderson over any of the others, at least until Colston comes back from the broken collar bone

Afternoon chaps, my quandries are as follows (I have three teams...):
Romo (@SF) or Stafford (KC)
Two from Blount (@Min), Caddy Williams (@NYG) , CJ Spiller (OAK) and Deji Karim (@NYJ)
Malcolm Floyd, Lee Evans or Jeremy Maclin.
Greene (JAC), Woodhead (SD) or Karim.
Shonn Greene or Jonothan Stewart.
Ochocinco or Emmanuel Sanders.

Hmm I'd go.
Stafford.
Blount, Williams
Maclin
Greene
Greene
Sanders
Shonn Greene ones are a bit tougher to decide. Woodhead might be a good choice. I dont know anything about how the Panthers ran the ball in week 1. Don't have any of them on my teams.

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
Pr4wn-I would remove Ochocinco from the equation straight away. I'd be wary of Stewart as he's going to split time with DA Williams and the opponents in week 2 are the Packers. Tough to run on plus the Panthers will likely be chasing the game and wont run the ball so much. The two guys with the most favourable matchups on paper are Evans and Sanders but i'd find it difficult to trust either of them. It's going to be a risk no matter what so i'd take a punt on one of them.

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
I have to start 2 of 3 -- who would you start?
RB: Forte, Hillis, or Tolbert -- i'm definitely starting Forte as I think the Bears screens will do well against the Saint's blitzing. Tolbert was a monster last week -- he didn't get a ton of yards rushing, but scored 3 TDs though he's going up against the Patriots. Hillis was somewhat disappointing, but is going up against Indy who can be run on.
WR: Lloyd (v. Cinncy) has a groin injury so I'm not sure if he's going to be able to go yet. Mike Williams of TB is going up against the Vikings, and Plaxico Burress v. Jacksonville.
I do have the option of using 1 of my 3 formations sets I get for the season and starting 3 RBs and only 1 WR.
My other dilemma is Marion Barber. He's my slotback and I can't put him on IR because he was injured prior to our draft and now he'll probably miss his 2nd week costing me valuable points. It'll cost me $20 to replace him (can't shift someone from my team into the spot). Plus, I keep thinking he might be back and getting some goal line vulture TDs. I can drop him and pick up Early Doucet or Bills TE Scott Chandler who had a good week - what do you think?

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
I'm starting Hillis and Tolbert, but then I don't have a Forte in reserve. But still, the Saints D isn't a disaster and they won't want to give up a lot this week, so...
I picked up Chandler as an alternate because Shiancoe has McNabb throwing to him, but don't get thinking he's going to get targeted like that every week. I'm toying with toughing it out with Barber unless I get a good trade offer, and he is a god 3rd down and short yardage back.

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
Yeah. They give you a budget of $18 Million.
Rodgers - $4m, Hightower - $2m, Tate - $2m, Buress - $1m, Welker - $3m, Gronkowski - $3m, Prater - $2m and Ravens D - $1.
I know they're the weakest links in the team, but not many other decent backs for $2m. I've looked at the matches being played, and thought those guys could put up good figures.

Re: Week 2 Fantasy Help Thread
It's been a while since I played the NFL UK fantasy but I always found that it's pointless spending $4m on a QB when better options exist lower down.
For example how much are Newton, Kolb and Grossman ? who are likely to get you close to the same points as Rodgers for alot less money.
What you need are solid RBs and WRs, I'd look to spend $12m on these 4 positions.
Then again I used to average around 60 points a week so you can ignore me with some confidence.....

Why do Americans place so much emphasis on Fantasy Football? Have they got nothing better to do with there time?
Could you imagine Gary Neville or Jamie Redknapp going on about Wayne Rooney scoring a goal helping fantasy teams? Talk about taking yourself too seriously!!!

Well, its fun and you get to apply your knowledge of players and how teams use them to try and build a successful team. There are so many different elements to it that make it fun. It's become so huge that it's a billion dollar industry in its own right and there are TV shows dedicated to it. Nothing against football (soccer), but I just don't see the game lending itsself to fantasy competition in as compelling a fashion.
