Xbox Live advice

Hey guys, i'm buying Xbox Live on Saturday and was just wondering if you buy the adapter for wireless do you just plug that in the back of the Xbox and then does it pick up the Internet access?

If memory serves me correctly I was asked to input the WAP key for my router to allow the internet to work on my xbox.
It's the same as if you were connecting an ipod or tablet or laptop up.
The WAP key can usually be found on the back of the router.
