The good news for Dublin football - manager Pat Gilroy has signed for another year. The bad news is that Conal Keaney may not make it back at all for 2012. The cruciate, damaged on the field and the damaged cartilage he suffered when he crashed his bike is not healing as well as hoped. I hope this is not true as he made a huge decision when he decided to commit to the hurlers only. I sincerely hope he makes it back at least for the championship.

Cry Noooooooooooo Not Captain Conal!!!! That'll be a huge blow for the team if he can't make it back. I think they would manage without him eventually, but what a loss it would be. Just read the article in the Indie:

http://www.independent.ie/sport/hurling/keaney-may-not-play-in-2012-2929295.html

Really really really hope he gets well soon and fully recovers.

Good news on Pat Gilroy though OK

Would be terrible for Conal. Expect more defensive football from Dublin with Gilroy back in action.

I don't get why Dublin are considered a defensive team. All teams are defensive, Dublin no more no less.

If Henry could make it back so too can Conal. Dublin - the good and the bad 732107

Ah, you're remembering them because of the dismal semi against Donegal. Other than that game they scored plenty and against Tyrone they played beautiful football.

Anyone see Bernard on Put them Under Pressure quiz show last week. God, Cari is right, he's handsome and is even better looking in civies. Funny how the gaa players always get the gaa questions wrong. The week before Shane McGrath from Tipp couldn't remember who managed Tipp in 1997. For shame.

They are cynical. Don't say I'm only remembering the Donegal game cause that is horseshit. They foul constantly. They might score well but their football was slow and turgid for a lot of last year and the year before. They're cynical, watch Tyrone v Dublin again note the amount of frees they gave away.

GAA players are stupid theuy have no brains. You can see that on the pitch.

I'm from Cork. They score a decent amount but it's Tyrone. They're cynical more so then defensive. Cork are pretty defensive too but hat the way people portray the Dubs as this great attacking theam when they're not. They have two great attacking players. That's it. You can do whatever ye want Cari, it's your forum as much as it is the rest of ours. Just don't go flying off the handle if we talk about women! Wink

Thomond - I've never moaned if the lads want to talk about the women they like - I've made a few suggestions myself - in a find-a-girlfriend-for-your-pal sort of way. Smile The only time I have objected is if it's done in a coarse way to the point where it's disturbing...but thankfully we don't see that much now.

What else is there to talk about at this time of the year. The regular lads seem to have taken the winter ban literally and gone into hibernation.

Cari, knew Tommy would top the poll, but B in 4th place, now that does suprise me.

Now Thom, that is just Cork shiite mixed with the historical dislike all Cork people have for Dublin. The Dubs are not cynical. If you want to see a really cynical team in action, watch Kilkenny. They top the list of any cynical team in any sport, anywhere in the world.

Well you see, I like all of them for different reasons, and if you asked me the same thing next week it might change. Also, I don't know how the Gaelic lads are built and being 5'9 myself, I like a tall fella. I've stood next to Tommy so I know he's perfect height for me Very Happy Still, same size lying down I suppose... Whistle

Laugh I've not heard that saying before! I'm going to pinch it...

I used to fancy one of the Tipp hurlers, but for the life of me I can't remember his name. Didn't see much of him this year...

Paul Curran, must be, he's the best looking guy on the team. though he hasn't been missing. That said some of the younger guys are handsome, but just thinking about them feels somewhat dirty and almost illegal.

I just Googled Curran, and yeah he's tasty, but it wasn't him. The guy I liked was fairer...just having a look now to see if I can find him...ah! It might've been Noel McGrath but his mugshot is very unflattering....

ooh Seamus Callanan looks yum!

That's just what I mean. Noel is only 20. See what I mean about it being somewhat durty. I'll have another look at him when he is in his late 20s. Padraic Maher is good looking and at 22, he's legal. Conor O'Mahony, he's got that very dark hair - the Irish look that you like. Seamus Callanan at 6.4, very stylish. Brendan Maher is fair, only 22, but legal too.

I think we are a bit cynical in term's of fouling people in the right place's but im glad we have adopted theese tactics as Tyrone, Armagh and to a lesser extent Kerry and Cork have done this for year's and got away with it.

Dub, hit the nail on the head. Football as a whole is very defensive, players lack a footballing brain and rely on brute strength. They're are few pure footballers at the moment.

I don't hate Dublin people at all, nothing against the place...

Yes the game has changed they are all very fit and strong now, there are some very skillful player's still out there like say Cooper and Michael Meehan from Galway but the game is now based on fittness and strength.

What is pure football?

Aren't they considering a rule change - something like after two/three hand passes, the ball must be kicked. It's sounds like a great solution and ought to get rid of the overtly defensive system employed by the likes of Donegal.

But personally my biggest gripe about football is the tackle. I think this is what really prevents the game from evolving and it's time for one that's clearly defined to be introduced. What about the Aussie rule style where the player gets a free kick at the ball. Or better still, the rugby style tackle meaning once tackled, the player would have to release the ball, which would make support play vital. Football should be about movement -forward movement that is.
