606v2 Slammy Awards 2011

Subject to an idea brought up on another thread I thought I would start a new one concerning our own version of the Slammy Awards that seem to be an annual "classic". The ideas I have come up with at the moment are:

- Best Overall Contributor
- Most Argumentative Bugger
- All Round Good Egg of the Year
- Hissy Fit of the Year
- Fantasy Booker of the Year
- Fantasy Booking of the Year
- Best Newcomer
- The "We All Think You Are Wrong; But We Respect You (Sort Of) For Refusing To Change Your Mind In The Face Of All The Evidence" Award
- Rant of the Year
- Prediction of the Year
- Most Dedicated Poster of the Year
- Post of the Year
- Thread of the Year

If anyone else can think of any good awards then please add them and the final composition of awards can then be decided. Unless anyone else really wants to run this I would be happy to do so and the structure would be as follows:

- Discussion on the categories
- Thread created on each award for people to discuss potential nominations
- Daily poll to choose the winner of each

Maybe the winner of a Slammy can include this in their forum name etc for the next year in a similar way to the now forgotten KotR tournament?

The only main rule I would say needs to be enforced at this time is that this is supposed to be lighthearted and fun, only positive categories will be allowed and no-one should use this as a place to do others down - its just not cool. OK?

If anyone wishes to add anything else or any categories then that would be great.

Once awards are agreed upon threads will be opened for people to nominate potential winners of awards. The most popular 5/6 will then go into a poll. As such as much of the prestige will go into being nominated as to actually being the winner!

I'm going to win all of the awards because I'm the best in the world at what I do and I am awesome.

I'll happily contribute but as I tend to come and go a bit I am not hugely familiar with a lot of the contributers or running gags.

Looking through a lot of those categories I can't actually think of what/whom to nominate. It's not personal, it's just that I don't read most of the articles because I don't have the time, and I've probably forgotten a lot of great threads. Having said that, there are certainly some posters I enjoy and would like to acknowledge.

I personally really like the idea of narrowing each category down to a poll, just because many others have a far better memory/knowledge of good threads/posters than I do.
