P4P Tournament Empty P4P Tournament

Post by Union Cane Tue 10 Jan 2012, 2:01 pm

Here's one to get you thinking...

Take the original 8 weight classes, and pick the fighter you think is currently the best in each division.

Heavyweight
Light Heavyweight
Middleweight
Welterweight
Lightweight
Featherweight
Bantamweight
Flyweight

Then, pound for pound, match them against each other as follows :

1. Heavy vs Light
2. Light Heavy vs Feather
3. Middle vs Bantam
4. Welter vs Fly

Then match the winners as follows :

Winner 1 vs Winner 4
Winner 2 vs Winner 3

Then, finally, match up the two remaining fighters.

Who comes out on top?

I'm a big fan of Gamboa but if your talking P4P then Nishioka gets it on longevity imo.

Well, yes I completely understand it but having P4P head to heads like this makes no sense, are we meant to just imagine Floyd mayweather up as high as 6"6 and retaining all the speed or something? It makes no sense at all, does he have the same power as he does at welterweight? Whats altered? It's ridiculous if you ask me.

I just don't understand it, what are the variables that are going to change, because in essence you move Floyd up to Heavyweight, his entire skill set changes, he no longer has the same kind of speed what happens to his power is it the same or what?

You don't move him up to heavyweight or anywhere else, it is Floyd the boxer we are judging, removing any height / weight (dis)advantages and basing it purely on boxing ability.
