When did Smith last play, he's been so unlucky with injuries?

They've got an amazing backling at the Rebels, just wonder how much ball their pack will get them. In open play they will be great to watch - I just hope Cipriani learns from O'Connor, Beale etc as if he comes back to England he could be exactly the player we need for the national team.

Message To All

After discussions with Driver, who is a busy boy doing exams at the moment so struggling for time, I will be taking back over the running of the game. Essentially nothing will change in the short term (this season), but towards the end of the season I will be canvassing opinions on how to improve and keep the game fresh and realistic for next season.

Mat -

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/club/9036891/Leicester-scrum-half-Micky-Young-could-face-12-week-gouging-ban-after-Heineken-Cup-victory.html

Does anyone know how much the RFU gives AP teams each year? Surely be in their interests to give each club £250k a year to make a marque signing and improve the quality of our teams for the Heineken Cup? Think our players are also playing too many games compared to Irish counterparts and the gulf in class is going to get more and more if something isnt changed soon.

From what i have seen of him he is a tidy player. Plays there game plan really well.

Need to see more of him challenging around the fringes and aggression wise but his basics are very sound.

Lot of good players in Cambridges league who have cone through. At cinderford we have had trinder, Burns etc. Harden came out of this league also.

players get sent on development contracts and it works

Notice the irish national side pick 6 up and coming players to train with the national side. Why don't we???????????????????????

There's not a huge amount of options really as captain are there.

Wood will miss the first couple of games, so I suspect it may well be Robshaw, or Hartley who gets it.

So against giving the captaincy to Robshaw. he has not played international rugby. Like Quins his performances have dropped off also which is probably due to a small squad

Hartley all the way for me.

Robshaw is not a guaranteed starter if Wood is fit so cannot have captaincy even if he has leadership skills.

The Times had Robshaw as captain according to sources.

I don't see how Robshaw could be made captain, he does very well but think you need to earn the England captaincy or at least have more caps than he does.

I'd go for Hartley, he's guaranteed starter, leads Northampton very well and think he would do a good job for England. Think that it is important to get lots of leaders in the team, think we've missed that for years and years.

Robshaw shouldn't be captain, disagree his performances have dropped off though. He's been Quins standout player whilst others have faded, especially in the pack.

I think Quins form over the past 6 weeks has faltered a bit, but Robshaw has maintained his own standards really. I agree that I wouldn't have him as captain, I would have Wood, but in his absence I think you have to go with Hartley.

Robshaws performances have slipped a little. Still playing okay but was very poor against Connacht and wasn't great against Gloucester or Saracens. They needed a leader against Connacht and they didn't get one.

Hartley also captain for me. Wood as vice.

So many pundits have been saying that Robshaw will start at no8 for England - would be a bit worried if he did, espc against the Scots.

I think he's a good player, but always thought he might not have that special something to make it as an international. He deserves his chance, and his leadership is something that England would benefit from.

Be interesting to see what backrow we opt for - think Ben Morgan could be very good for us as we need a ball carrier, but we really need a genuine no7 to emerge. Imagine backrow would be Croft, Wood, Morgan if all fit with Robshaw on the bench. With Lawes there we've got a great lineout - now just need to use that like the Irish teams do, as think Munster showed that the scrum doesnt win you games on Saturday!

Lawes isn't a great lineout operator. Robshaw shouldn't start at 8, would be a crazy call. He's a 6 and the best natural 6 we have, he can do a job at 7 but not his best position.

6. Robshaw
7. Wood
8. Morgan

Allow this backrow to gel

Who are the lock options if Deacon is injured? Parling and Attwood? I'd go Parling.

Lawes is actually a very good lineout jumper remember POC rating him as one of the best hes played against in recent times his only problem is that he hasnt got the brains to lead the lineout thats why we need Palmer at the moment. Wood will likely become lineout captain when fit and playing and with Lawes, Croft, Wood we have a serious threat there

It's all about balance, and if you go with 2 mobile flankers who ar egood lineout options then you need to go with power in the second row. To be honest though, I think it's a bit of a myth that Wood lacks physicality. He is a big lad who puts himself about in defence. Possibly needs to carry more, but if you have a carrying 8 like Morgan it's not a problem.
