Holly Bleasdale smashes Indoor British Record in the Pole Vault and Goes 2nd on the All - Time List

Brilliant Bleasdale

"Pole vaulter Holly Bleasdale smashed her own British indoor record and moved to second on the all-time world list with a clearance of 4.87m in Lyon.

The 20-year-old improved her record by one centimetre in going over at 4.72m, and managed 4.80m at the first attempt.

She then cleared 4.87m at the third attempt to win the event and assume the lead in the world rankings.

Only world record holder Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia has gone higher, with a clearance of 5m.

In attempting to beat that record, Bleasdale failed to clear 5.01m, but was nonetheless satisfied with what she achieved in France."

Found the video, doesn't seem to be any pressure really which would've helped her to just get on with it!

Terrific news. That was also after a short (14 stride) run-up. she failed at 5:01 which would have been a new world record.

(More good news from the weekend was Robbie Grabartz (spelling) getting over 2:34 in the HJ.)

Thanks for heads up teassoc on Robbie Grabarz - don't know anything about him. Just been checking his stats - 2.28 in 2011 and 2010, so that 2.34m high jump is major breakthrough - great stuff

Holly jumping tonight in Poland with full stride pattern and longer pole. Up against Isinbayeva and a few other strong vaulters. A win tonight might be expecting a bit too much but anything over 4:50 would be OK as she attempts to be a regular 4:60 to 4:70 jumper.

The charity auction finishes at 20:34:18 GMT on Friday and the spikes are only at £50, what a bargain
