7 to 1 fancy scotland? Really? Im far from confident in England but Id still have them as favourites. It did say "predict" not " wish for"

Of course England are favorites in the bookies they always are because the bookies take far more bets from the English supporters than they do from the Scottish supporters. If they installed Scotland as favorites they would stand to lose more if England win, by making the English favorites even if the scots win they will pay out less to the punters. They arent assessing the quality of the rugby they are assessing the risk to their bottom line, duh.

er how do you think bookies work out the starting price- quality of the sides playing and past performances are very high on the rating- that is a massive part of forcasting prices. scotland havent been favourites at any point in time, stop spouting the obvious and think.

what you fail to also understand tycoes is that youy are getting better than evans on scotland- that would be an impossibilty if they were realistic favourites- bookies never give good value odds.

in a scenario where you are only getting bad value on a nation due to the size of population, both odds would be under evans- 1.91 and 1.71 or something!!

and if you honestly believe that scotland are good value odds take the punt!!! but do yourself a favour hey dont risk to much!!

Yet your point was based on the bookies installing England as favorites was it not? Now you wish to change that to England playing better rugby? not in Edinburgh they dont or certainly havent since 2004.

As for this England side who knows what they are going to play like? has the discipline been sorted? where is the midfield creativity? It certainly isnt co,img from Hodgson who has failed at this level time and time again. It isnt coming from Barrit either, so if your relying on Farrel producing the goods then I would be really worried if I was an England fan. On top of that what is the new englands style of play? They dont have the forwards to bully any of the packs they are going to face in the 6N and they dont have the creative backs who can give the wingers the ball in space.

Scotland dont need to score a try its going to be a kickfest, which means Charlie Hodgson vs Parks in Edinburgh. There is only one winner in that kicking duel.

if scotland win it will be a very tight afair and either side could win in that scenario, however if england put on a cracking performance they have a good chance of putting scotland out the game with heavy scoring, scotland cannot do that

posters on this board dont want to believe that england have a good game in them, they know deep down what could happen, however they dont want to believe it, that is reflected in the poll on here.

neither can this England side. They dont have the pack to dominate possession and they dont have the midfield to create space and they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for an outside half. Ashton and Foden cannot score tries without the ball.

The reality of England is they are a side that is rebuilding at the moment they do not posess their traditional strengths and have not developed a game plan to their strengsth yet. That takes time, you dont simply throw the youth in and watch it click instantly in International Rugby. On top of that they have a caretaker coach keeping Mallets seat warm.

the title of this thread looked innocent enough. i find its a bit of a wum fest. well, it is that time of year i suppose.

scotland have to be favourites for the sco v eng match. i am watching the game with two english mates. i know they are not taking scotland at all lightly this year. scotland still have their problems but they know what they are and will plan accordingly. no one knows what this new england's problems might be.

england will have a tough day in murrayfield.

i cant see italy winning any this year. shame.

ireland will take wales apart. maybe its my pre 6nations pessimism kicking in but what with irish regions doing well, etc etc etc... gonna be a horrible sunday for the welsh.

France will destroy Italy (like England did last year) then Italy will return to Rome (or wherever it is now) looking for revenge and face England (as they did France last year) - and we all know how that ended

wales606, i would be delighted if wales pulled off a win at the aviva. it could happen. it is pretty close but i think your expected results are accurate, most would tip ireland to win this one.

in all seriousness i favour scotland this time around. england are a very new team, scotland are well settled team. scotland have an established coach, england have an newly promoted coach.

scotland are at home.

england could win it. i wont begrudge them a win but i have a feeling it'll be too soon for this new look england.

whats all this 'england in transition' , england a new team.

its been going on for 9 years, and if we really are gonna have different players from our vast pool of talent and a new coach, i can only see an improvement- how could we get worse than last time around- yet we still won the thing!!

Scotland were the better side the last two matches vs England and very unlucky not to win. England haven't won in Murrayfield for nearly a decade. I would be surprised if they won this year. New Coach who has no senior rugby experience, untried players who have very mixed form winning well one week then losing by 50 points the next.
