Indian Wells Ladies Final - Marion Bartoli v Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki is the heavy favourite with the bookmakers here and rightly so. The Danish world number one has blasted her way into the final, dominating in every match, dropping only one set to Alisa Kleybanova before walloping her in the next two. Her emphatic semi-final win over Maria Sharapova shows the youngster is ready to take the title here on the US hardcourts. Wozniacki may well be major-less in her career so far but she is making a name for herself, and a tournament victory at the WTA's '5th major' here in Indian Wells could well be the catalyst for bigger things for Caroline. Her opponent today is the awkward character of Marion Bartoli. The French lady can herself dominate matches with her powerful groundstrokes and the flatness of her play. Her movement sometimes looks restricted and could get her in trouble against Wozniacki, but never-the-less she will give the world number 1 something to think about. She destroyed Yanina Wickmeyer in the semis and Ana Ivanovic in the quarters and is looking better than what she did at the start of the tournament. Bartoli has been a Wimbledon finalist before so we know she can play big matches. I remember a few weeks ago Bartoli was blown of court against Wozniacki in Doha 6-1 6-1. I don't think Bartoli got the credit she deserved in that match and a few games where close, but the Dane had the momentum. She has a 4-2 head to head lead over Bartoli and I think she will be too good again for the French player. Bartoli needs to start well, cut out her unforced errors, especially double faults and serve a high percentage of first serves to Wozniacki. She will get her chances to break the Dane, but it is her own serve that she needs to concentrate on and try and dominate rallies.
