Ireland-most points?
First topic message reminder :
I have just been informed that Ireland have scored the most points and the most tries in the competition.I along with many think Ireland's attack has been incredibly poor but yet we have scored the most tries and mostly through the backs. How is this possible?

Re: Ireland-most points?
I think this has been an even 6N in that there have been very few blow-out scores. Italy normally take the big beatings and at half time they were looking alright until Ireland blew out the score in the second half. That is why Ireland is leading the points because really in the other matches no one side has really dominated the match whereas in previous years the top sides have usually dominated sides and the scoreline.
Bowe looks to have that instinct for the line even though his second try ignored the inside man (Kearney I think) before he kicked ahead and got a favourable bounce. Ireland look good out wide but less assured up the middle though at least D'Arcy had one of his better games last week. To me Ireland are missing their backline general in BOD. D'Arcy, as most senior back, doesn't do a good enough job organising the attack and defence.

Bod played 10 for blackrock college. He has also played a game or two at 10 for Ireland. Possibly at the 03 WC was it?

There you go then. I remember him moving to 10 against the AB's a few years ago when ROG was binned...I think he scored a try and made another......
I was only half joking actually but now you've sold me on it... BOD to play 10 until after the 2015 RWC!

Re: Ireland-most points?
I see Ireland are left to break-in another SH clow ... I mean ref this weekend.
I wonder how that one will work out? The side that clicks with him first (The 'Yes, sirs' and the "Beggin' your pardon, sir - won't happen again, sir") could be onto a nice 80 minutes.
Nothing like soft-soaping the new teacher to get off light on the homework.

Re: Ireland-most points?
POC can sometimes over do the 'looking for explanations'. No I think a quieter Captain and an honest approach to the game might win more brownie points with a ref trying to bed himself into a NH game. I think a 'nuisance' captain might be counterproductive

Whos captaining Ireland this weekend?
If it's Best you know your going to lose don't you, that Norn Iron talk into a refs ear and he'll penalise you all day long!

I dont know, a new ref also looks for a little bit of support and if you are clever enough (and POC is at times) you can get them on your side very quickly

Norn Iron talk is a might more smooth on the ear than a frustrated Scots tonguecurler. And we plan on making them frustrated.

Re: Ireland-most points?
I was laughing a few weeks back when Leinster's Strauss started to give an Italian ref a lesson in scrums. He talked and talked and used hand gestures to prove his point about a continuing infringement he was accusing his opposite number of. The ref seemed to be ignoring him mostly... but after another chat with the ref and another scrum, the shrill whistle from the ref and he penalised Strauss's opponent. Not only that, he said over to Strauss. Paraphrase: "I sorry. I sorry. I see what to mean now."
Strauss reffing whilst playing. I laughed.

Pretty sure he played 10 in the semi final v clongowes in 98 at 10. He missed a couple of drop goal chances to advance to the final.

Anyone catch the Ireland U20s game? McGrath got MOM. Leinster, play him sooner rather than later! He looks brilliant.

Re: Ireland-most points?
Rodders give it a rest and stop making uninformed comments. Ireland are playing well, scoring through the backline. I like the way you exonorate Trimble from playing poorly because of what kidney is instructing him...god you talk Cr.p

Trimble hasn't had much ball. He gets so much more at ulster and tends to look first class when he has it. Quality player.

He doesn't look for the ball enough and looks flaky dealing with the ball in behind him...

Earls isn't exactly a danger man either. In fact the only two players in our back-line threatening is Kearney (because he has tons of space) and Bowe (individual brilliance).

Go and look at the try against France and one against Italy and let me know who gave the pass to bowe and made space for him....and then right it out 100 times in latin

So that is your example of Earls being threatening? His simple pass out to Bowe? Bowe did all the hard work.
