They don't have to be rugby supporters (even less, players). Just people you can be proud of as being associated with your part of your world.
e.g. Leicester: David Attenborough. Not born - but educated there. The finest TV broadcaster ever? Not a Tigers' fan so far as I'm aware (probably like Richard, his brother, a Chelsea fan. Also Alec Jeffreys who from the Local University who developed genetic fingerprinting.
That sort of stuff.
I'm sure that there will be calls for James Watt, Lewis Carroll, Thomas Telford, Sir Edmund Hillary, Ned Kelly, Imogen Thomas
etc.
JUST FUN

Looks like Ms Thomas is squeezing George Gregan and Peter Stringer a bit too close there.

I feel lucky to have seen some great players at Newport RFC and then more recently Gwent Dragons. Gary Teichmann was great for Newport, and lived up to his billing as a top player. Percy Montgomery I think spanned both Newport RFC and then stayed on into regional rugby with the Dragons. While I don't think he settled too well he had a number of top performances. Quality player.

Steve Staunton was born in Drogheda but raised in Dundalk.
When he was a great football player for Ireland we used to claim "He was born in Drogheda you know"
When he became a disastrously bad Irish manager we then said "Dundalk c**t".

Coming from Edinburgh, the match day programme would be a lot more upmarket if Sir Walter Scott wrote it.
Ronnie Corbett could source endless material from watching some of the moves attempted by our centres over the years.
RDW - if you are watching this thread in your new capacity as a Prefect, did you know Ronnie Corbett went to our Alma Mater?

the rugby league club is pretty close (well it's closer than the union club), and it has produced union internationals - James O'Connor, Shontayne Hape and Henry Paul
