Favourite Matches

I'm really bored just now and watching some old school WWE PPV's. Just got me thinking, what are your favourite matches from the years that you've watched the WWE.

I mean, if you had started watching in the mid 90's what was your "match of the year" from the year you began watching to now? Be the match of your choice be chosen for being a technical masterpiece, be a brutal hardcore match or be it for the significance of the match itself.

I'll do mine to give you all an example to make it 100% clear.

2000 - Triple H v Cactus Jack HIAC - No Way out - In my eyes, one of Hunter's best matches. Brutal from start to finish.
2001 - The Rock v Steve Austin - Wrestlemania X7 - My first Wrestemania at the tender age of 10. I will always remember the sheer OMG moment when Stone Cold smashed The Rock over the head with that chair.
2002 - Kane vs Chris Jericho/Christian vs Jeff Hardy/Rob Van Dam vs The Dudleys (TLC) - RAW - This ladder match always sticks in mind, great TLC match.
2003 - Brock Lesnar v Kurt Angle - Wrestlemania X9 - Awesome, just awesome. One of my favourite Kurt Angle matches ever.
2004 - Chris Benoit v HBK v HHH - Wrestlemania XX - My favourite match ever, unbelievable.
2005 - Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels vs. A.J. Styles - Unbreakable - Techincal wrestling at its best. The best of the three matches these guys had.
2006 - Kurt Angle vs The Undertaker - No Way Out - 2006 was a poor year for wrestling but this is again Kurt Angle at his best and it is one hell of a performance from the Deadman.
2007 - John Cena vs Umaga (Last Man Standing) - Royal Rumble - Another very poor year for wrestling, even though I thought Umaga should have won this match but I was impressed by Cena. Probably the one and only time.
2008 - Undertaker v Edge - One Night Stand - Great performances from both guys, and Taker falling through about 8 tables at the end was brillaint.
2009- CM Punk v Jeff Hardy - Night Of Champions - I really enjoyed this feud and Punk's monologue before this match is one of the best promos I have ever seen. Great match too.
2010 - Undertaker v HBK - Wrestlemania 26 - Another unbelievable match. Saved Wrestlemania last year.



Now over to you guys

Bret Hart V Davey Boy Smith at Summerslam 92 was truely epic. I re-watched it again the other night and it still holds up as my finest match.

2011- Santino, Kofi, Big show and Kane vs the corre- a match of high quality and very compact, this match will launch the career of wade barratt definately

Melina vs Alicia Fox

1998 - Undertaker v Mankind HIAC , KOTR (never seen anything like it, not a great match itself but it was incredible all the same)
1999 - HHH v Vince, No holds barred, Armageddon (loved this storyline and was a bit too obsessed with HHH and Vinnie Mac was quality in the match)
2000 - HHH v Mankind, Street Fight?!, Royal Rumble (close second HHH v Rock, Iron Man, Judgement day) These two matches were brilliant, infact the Rumble 2000 was full of great matches
2001 - Kurt Angle v Chris Benoit WMX7 (loved the technical wrestling that we don't see nowadays)
2002 - Rock v Hogan WM18 (crowd made this match for me)
2003 - Kurt Angle v Lesnar (both at their peak and put on a brilliant match)
2004 - HHH v Benoit v HBK (really need to explain why this was match of year?!)
2005 - Angle vs HBK WM21 (two of my favourite wrestlers, yes wrestlers, in a dream match)
2006 - Stopped watching
2007 - Stopped watching
2008 - Edge vs Taker WM24 Edge's best match for me
2009 - Taker vs HBK WM25 WOW!
2010 - Taker vs HBK 2 WM26 WOW x 2!
2011 - Taker vs HHH WM27, nothing will beat this

It really isn't a struggle to pick the last few years and don't even want to mention 2006 - 2007 as it was all rather poor with exception to HBK at WM and even then I think he was against Cena?! Oh dear.

However the ealier years are tough, so many matches I have missed out, for example HBK v HHH at Summerslam, not sure of the year and HHH v Austin at Survivor Series with the whole car on the crane incident...

It would take me too long to do it by year but I will always list Stone Cold vs Bret Hart Wm 13 as my favourite, for the quality of the match and the way the roles reversed during the match. Haven't seen sotry telling like that since.

Daniel Bryan Vs Dolph Ziggler last year not getting a mention? And Jericho Vs Bryan in NXT was also pretty good imo obviously dont beat HBK Vs Taker last year but deserve honourable mentions

Gaffer - HBK vs Benjamin is a good shout - remember tha match well and the SCM Benjamin took after coming of the top rope was brutal!

This may be a bit out there but only because it was the first PPV i actually paid for (VHS) but............The Rock vs Triple H 2 out of 3 falls for IC title at Fully Loaded 1998....an amazing match and the way the the IC and US title should be contested.....it just seemed SOOO inportant to the 2 of them.....those titles have lost their prestige big time
