Poland v Russia (19:45, ITV 1)

Current Group Standings:

Russia - 3
Greece - 1
Poland - 1
Czech Republic - 0

So back to Group A for Day 5 of the tournament. Greece will be looking to build upon the foundations laid against the Polish while the Czechs will want to bounce back in style from the humiliation of their first game and will need a result to stay alive. In the second game, Russia will try to make it 2 wins out of 2 and all but secure qualification for the Quarters and Poland will once again be looking to impress in front of their home fans.

I watched them in the 70's. Brilliant team man.

Russia have more technically-able players and are better as a unit. But I wouldnt write the Poles off yet here. They'll die for the Home cause.

But yeah. Logically its Russia's game. But thats what they thought, when it was the USSR.And Poland won that one.

As it stands, yes Russia will top their group barring a huge swing in GD, and will be the first team into the quarters.

Greece, Czech and Poland would all need a win given Czech's GD.

Well we certainly overrated Russia, if Ireland could keep them goalless at home other teams can certainly beat them. Poland giving it their all, even if they are a bit limited. That's how we want Ireland to play (Poland play a far better style of football a they don't have a negative manager)

so Russia through if:
- they don't lose
- they lose and Czech Republic draw with Poland

Poland through if:
- they win

Czech Republic through if:
- they win
- they draw and Greece don't beat Russia

Greece through if:
- they win

Note: if Cze vs Pol is a draw and Greece absolutely hammer Russia, Cze and Greece could potentially go through and not Russia, but it's very very unlikely.

So Poland need to beat Czechs to go through. A win for Greece should put them through too (though unlikely). Draw for Czechs enough if Russia don't lose. Avoiding defeat for Russia enough, but defeat allied to a Poland win would see them knocked out on direct results.
