606v2 top 100 of 2011
drawing inspiration from the player top 100 ive decided to do this
all you have to do is put down who you think is currently the best 20 players in the league from 2011 ( NO PEYTON MANNING!)in numerical order.
20 down to 1
for each place gained there will be 1 extra point awarded for the player 20=1 19=2 etc till 1=20, hopefully the variety we get will let us reach 100 players overall.
only vote once and this will run till monday 16th of july 9pm.
i will reveal results on saturday 21st of july.

Re: 606v2 top 100 of 2011
Quick question - when you say "currently the best 20 players in the league from 2011", I'm a bit confused. Are you saying the best 20 players of the 2011 season? Or the best 20 players right now? Because, for example, you'd be hard pushed to include Jason Peters or Terrell Suggs since they'll both miss at least most, if not all, of the season, so they can't really be 'current' top players, if you see what I mean?

well, he was my #5 :P Joe Thomas is a fantastic, fantastic pass protector, but not yet an elite run blocker. He's a top 5 tackle in the league IMO, but not a top 20 player
Re: 606v2 top 100 of 2011
i see him as a top twenty player because LT's are probably the second most important position and he is the very best LT, easily better than Long

Re: 606v2 top 100 of 2011
My issue with this (not really your argument but the fall in position in the NFL's top 100 lists) is that in reality did Thomas get worse at run blocking from the 2010 season to 2011 or did the running backs get worse? Now I've not studied the tape but I'm pretty certain it's the second option.GurTPL wrote:well, he was my #5 :P Joe Thomas is a fantastic, fantastic pass protector, but not yet an elite run blocker. Re: 606v2 top 100 of 2011
I did put a big amount on players worth to their teams in 2011, especially in helping teams get to the play offs. Akers broke Jerry Rice's 49ers points scored in a second, broken plenty of kicking records and scored 46% of the 49ers points.
Tim Tebow guided the Broncos to the play offs and made 'that pass' against the Steelers in the Wildcard week.

Haha, forgot about this! Come on cherries, get it posted! And I don't want to see Marshawn Lynch, Matt Flynn and Sidney Rice in the top 3 or I will be suspicious

Whilst I'm happy to laugh at Cherries for some of his posts it is unnecessary to bring it onto every thread.
