606 Golf event - CANCELLED

This is an attempt to gage the current interest in this event and also provide a new place to arrange and discuss the details.

This is just for general interest in the concept. But rough dates will be the royal wedding weekend in april or later in june. Maybe we could match it with US open for added evening entertainment.

Most likely a day ticket for gullane numbers 2 and 3 and then either somewhere cheaper like longniddrie or kilspindie. but remember we will also have options like north berwick, gullane 1, craigielaw, dunbar, the glen, luffness and musselburgh old. As well as the even pricer muirfield, archerfield or renaissance.

No need to vote for no, if you dont vote yes it is implied you are not interested. They software makes you give two options.

Can i just point out there is no need to vote no. It is only there because the system makes you give two choices. By not voting yes it is implied you are not interested.

I'd be quite up for this. I hardly played last year so this will give me a reason to and take in some links golf which I really don't play enough of. :friend:

I'd love it to go ahead, problem for me is the weekends in question. The original 1st choice of late June is our Club Champs (usually - although diary not out until later this month). The Royal Wedding weekend I have an eye on an Open at Royal Dornoch on the Sunday preceded by the last 2 days of the 36 hole winter ticket at Castle Stuart. The Dornoch applications open next Weds so basically if it's all firmed up for East Lothian by then then yes, I'm in, if it aint I'm going for a CS & RD weekend.

Are all standards welcome? Might be a bit pricey depending on venue, but definitely interested - thanks Mac.

mac, i'm keen but price would probably be a turn off - having just forked out on subs and a few open entries for 2011 i'd probably be scraping the bottom of the piggy bank. afraid i'm not in the habit of paying more than a guest fee or open fee to play away courses so day tickets to the like of gullane would probably be a bit over my budget on my current wage.

I was initially hoping to be able to get up for this meeting but time/finances aren't going to allow it. Definitely up for some sort of meeting though, how about we try to find an open event or open week somewhere fairly central for everyone (Midlands/North England) that has a high handicap limit so that as many as possible can enter?

The day ticket for number two at gullane is only £55. So that would be two rounds at £27.50 each, and that is before we have negotiated a group discount.

Interested in principle but not sure in reality if I'll be able to make it - wife and baby commitments. Might be able to coincide it with a visit to my brother etc in Edinburgh if know more about potential dates.

Same thing here Navy. These little nuisances cut into so much leisure time!

despite spending many years looking out across the firth of forth towards east lothian, i've never played golf there. so if i can work around my wife, my children and our shop, i might be able to get away to join you!

How dumb are some people. for the last Flip time there is no need to vote no. I care not about the soloist who are not up for it.

Honestly, I wonder why you set it as a poll then if you were only looking for "yes" replies. That could just as easily have been done with a normal thread.

So i have a number of those interested. I could have just asked people to reply with their name but thought the one click ease of voting yes might promote more people to register an interest. In any case can someone please tell me what the point of voting no would be?

But if you are not interested then it has no consequence to vote no, as not voting is the same as voting no. Why do I need to know if someone is not interested?

If there are 50 members of the 606v2 golf society and you receive 30 "yes" votes, you might still be waiting to hear from the other 20.

By voting "no" you know that they wont be joining you.

By not voting, you would not know if they have read your message.
