Without prejudice - a fresh start for everyone. Please read.
First topic message reminder :
Morning, folks.
606v2 seem to be growing steadily, both in numbers and in reputation, and I believe that many would agree with me that the boxing forum is considerably better than its BBC predecessor. There is a solid core membership, a nice variety of topics and GENERALLY a happy balance between banter and serious boxing discussion.
However, the one ' fly in the ointment ' concerns a problem inherited from the BBC forum and it is one which threatens to ' cheapen ' the standards set.
We are all adults here, so there is absolutely no need for me to tread carefully or ' beat about the bush.' The simple fact of the matter is that the war between D4thincarnation and others has become a blight, and is making things very difficult for the admin team and the moderators to ensure that everybody enjoys himself or herself here at the boxing forum. It is a vexing problem for both the admin team and also for those of us whom they - and you, by way of vote - have asked to moderate things here. If we do nothing, then the board can descend into chaos, whereas if we jump in to every ' playground scrap ' we lay ourselves prone to charges of being ' power crazy,' etc.
If I might take off my moderator's hat for a second, I'd just like to remind everybody that the admin team and moderators are also regular posters who love their sport, just like everybody else. It is a great deal more fun for us to discuss sport and engage in good natured banter than it is to ' referee ' punch ups and skirmishes or remove offending posts. The best moderation is that which is invisible, and if we all play the game, we can achieve this.
To D4thincarnation I say this :
The entire admin team and the moderators KNOW how you delight in pushing buttons, cattle prodding, and dropping subtle innuendo into threads to incite reaction. Your game of brinkmanship with forum rules is becoming tiresome and is causing a great many problems.
Please exercise respect for those who do not share your enthusiasm for certain fighters, and please refrain, from today onward, from subjecting us to the war of propaganda. NOBODY wishes to curb your enthusiasm for certain fighters, but EVERYBODY expects you to do so while being sensitive to other members. Let Pacquiao be Pacquiao, and let other topics run without your trying to inject Pacquiao, or whomsoever, into them.
To D4's detractors I say this :
It has become almost instinct to pre judge D4's input to the forum and to then, by way of retaliation, deliberately try to incite him by hijacking HIS threads or comments, which has EXACTLY THE SAME effect on the board as do his eccentricities. Eventually, moderate members who do not wish to be a member of one or other faction find themselves dragged into the fray and fissures widen.
Again, we are all intelligent adults, and we can surely see that a repetition of the circumstances at the old forum will DESTROY ALL THAT IS GOOD here at 606v2.
Please feel free to add your comments, and please do not allow this thread to simply become a new theatre of war. If we ALL play the game, we ALL benefit.
As stated at the beginning, this is a fresh start for EVERYBODY. All previous misdemeanors are forgotten and we go forward with clean slates.
Thank you.

I think he meant collecting refugees as a money making scheme for the site. We could get 200 / 300 slumdogs making 606v2 T-shirts in India

Just looked at this thread and realised that my poor choice of wording has been mocked! Thank heavens Professor Albertus Lion 5 has not noticed.Being chastised by an Edwardian school-teacher would be the lowest ebb conceivable for me on 606v2.

Ebb lowering in todays modern society ~ why good sir, it is not the attention of these learned gentlemen, to persecute or rebuff your opinions or internal angst of the soul. Indeed, Mr Gf, my tone, is one of good natured ticklement of the ribcage area and I would never condone such an appalling chain of events.
Thank you for your contribution to this highway of super technological merriment.

Mr Hobo,
Ah, to sleep perchance to dream ,and awake knowing that my indelicate
linguistical contortions and most modest musings receive the cognitive attention of personages such as your good self-why it illuminates the wonderment of being alive.
Upon perusing the subject ,which of late has been somewhat steered away from, of the monickered Mr D4,-to wit the tangled web of intrigue regarding Mr Moneybags (Ring magazine's number two pound for pound) and Mr Manny (Ring Magazine's number One!), is there not a case that festivities or even hostilities may recommence?
Whilst maintaining conducive relations with Mr Windmill I feel confident that we have all played nicely, made friends ,made friends, never ever break friends;in fact, the healthy attempt at scouring the annals of boxings most decorated era has been a worthwhile pursuit for Mr D, having twisted his noggin around the not inconsiderable merits of Harry Greb (Ring Magazine P4P number two during his era).
Alas, time will facilitate us with a full progress report as to whether he too, along with Mr Jeff of Rowley, succumb to the steely grip of Mr Jeffries or whether he has perched his half-moons atop his no doubt Roman nose and discovered the attractions of a certain Peter Jackson (Ring Magazine P4P number 7 in 1909).Should THAT event come to pass, why, I would bet my last groat that Mr Dave will succumb to revisionism himself ,upon the subject of Mr 4.
Good day!

I tried. A blind man can see all he wants to do is flood this site with repetitive sh!te about one boxer, and one only. If this carries on much longer I'm just gonna give this place a miss, because it's frankly tiresome having to deal with it.

Balti, in fairness its obvious he's going to be pro Manny on an article about Manny's fight tonight.
I have merged all the other fight articles today that have popped up with the main one to keep it all in one place, so i dont buy the argument that it has flooded the site today.
Likewise after the fight, all the articles that pop up about the fight will be merged together so that it doesnt flood the section.
If you dont want to talk about Manny there are other articles to debate, or start off a new topic.

I'm off for the night before I get myself banned. I don't mind if someone's pro or anti anything, but when logic and rationality go out the window in favour of hypocrisy, lies and blind devotion it quickly becomes infuriating and nigh-on insufferable. You guys do well keeping it in check as much as you do, but I personally find it all starting to become very off-putting and a deterent to coming on here. Sorry.

Is reading not a strong point? Go and re-read what I said. If you're going to criticise, at least be constructive with it.

Nope - read it again and still don't see your point.
You said "I'm off for the night before I get myself banned" - yet you are still here. Doesn't seem that difficult to understand

I went, I came back. I went to avoid a ban because some on here seem a little draconian and power mad. If the best you have to contribute is snide remarks and sarcasm then why bother?

Skidd mate, even if i wanted to delete any post I could not, and secondly ,i did write to you directly and not so that everybody else could read before notifying a moderator(it was their call whether to edit or remove your blunt , one- line- criticism(with expletive) of one of my articles.)
I understood that you had not been on here for a week or two, which was why you did not expand on your initial criticism as asked.
Your repudiation of my article was up for a full ten days or so,and I did wait for you to reply to my private mail in that time.
This was all discussed politely and clearly when we did make contact, and I finally understood yor view (that the writer George Plimpton was an unreliable narrator) and you then seemed to accept my reasoning for the above course of action.
Not similar to the thread subject in any way.
