Re: Arrow
Very good season overall, just in case anyone hasn't seen the last episode I'm outlining what I think will happen in season 4.
- Spoiler:
Villains for Season 3:
Glad they kept Slade alive, he's definitely going to lead the suicide squad at some point though, I reckon H.I.V.E will play a big part of season 3 and Merlyn will definitely appear at some point apparently he's becoming a season regular due to his interaction with Thea. Whether he returns to Starling I don't know, I think the close of season 3 will be Thea returning to Starling for season 4 as a villain. Think we're due to get Captain Cold and Killer Frost at some point however they may be saved for The Flash show.
I know he's a Gotham villain but I think Scarecrow would fit brilliantly in Arrow, there is the potential for a more grounded villain which we see in Arrow.
League of Assassins I think will stay clear for a while and return in season 4, Ra's has to appear eventually, would be a major let down if he didn't.
I do think Nightwing could be introduced, with an Arrow/Flash crossover then introducing a Gotham link would be good. It also means Harley Quinn could be introduced in the Suicide Squad after her brief audio cameo in season 2.
Arrow, The Flash, Nightwing, Black Canary and maybe one more could build towards a future Justice League.

Re: Arrow
Very good episode last night and ending to the season.
Have really enjoyed the second season.
The characters they have introduced have all been good.
Probably give this season 8/10
Give the first 6.5/7.
Look forward to the 3rd season.

Have LOVED the last few episodes, absolutely superb stuff!!
They're the best there's been across both series'.
And nowwwwww we know how he got off that blinking island! (looking forward to more on that story though, nice little teaser)
Also, any comic book geeks out there know who Thea is clearly going to turn into.......? Thought she was a bit of a dick at the end, frankly.

Gonna be a bit strange seeing Thea 'turning onto' someone.
Also heard Laurel becoming someone else.
For me there is to much character change.
Was Happy with Oliver, Felicity & Diggle.

Re: Arrow
Really enjoying Arrow, been much better than I was expecting!
Thea or 'Speedy' in the DC comics became Red Arrow in the comics so I'm guessing she will become a 'Villain' Red arrow thanks to Merlyn.
Looking forward to the 3rd season and be interesting to see which DC characters they bring in and how they use them. I like the way the characters don't really have 'super powers' and keep it a little more real.

Thing is it goes against the Season 1 intro to every episode about how he had a beard and had to attract a boat by lighting a big fire with a flaming arrow etc, so can see him ending up on the island again

Artemis - Good shout! Couldn't remember her name. Been watching Young Justice on Cartoon Network with my oldest lad (5 yrs old) recently and I think your right. They can play Thea very similar to Artemis in Young Justice (switching from good to evil and vice versa).
I think I enjoy watching Young Justice more than my son lol He's more of a fan of the marvel superheroes like Spiderman and the avengers.

Overview of who I mentioned could be in season 3
- Spoiler:
H.I.V.E (hierarchy of international vengeance) - Deadshot mentioned they were the ones who hired him to kill Diggle's brother
Scarecrow - Featured in Batman Begins (well actually featured in all films as Craine otherwise) but a hallucinate weapon could easily work in Arrow's grounded world need to make sure its different to vertigo though.
Harley Quinn - former psych doctor turned villain and closely associated to The Joker, often features as a member of the suicide squad in comics and had a brief cameo in season 2 when in the jail cells while not seen making a comment along the lines of 'can I join in'. Would have been better just to have her as a psych doctor at this stage I feel but could still work.
Think Amanda Waller will have a big influence next season hinted by the end scene but definitely think Slade will lead the Suicide Squad next series.

8th Oct is when it starts in the states. CW seems to have a later start to its schedule compared to the other four networks.

Flash airs the 7th Oct in the states. Sky One have picked it up over here and you would assume will air it around the same time as they do Arrow.
Will be interesting to see how Flash does and how much leeway CW will give it ratings wise with its connection to Arrow. Especially considering Arrow is certain to get a 4th season.

I've missed the first two seasons but watched all the episodes so far of s3 and from what I've seen of it, it is more focused on character development rather than full on superpowered guys fighting each other. I like it!

Wasn't to impressed with last night's episode.
Good bit though on Felicity's past.
I just cant take Roy seriously as the Red hood.
Laurel is now going to become some bad a55.
Thea though looking even hotter this episode.

Watched the midseason finale earlier today, the guy playing Al Ghul is fantastic! He delivers his lines with a coldness that you come to expect from a character such as that.

Yeah it's because CW have iZombie about to start and they want to give it a good chance with the ratings. Don't see what stopping a show that's on at a different time will make though.

Re: Arrow
I'd doubt it has anything really to do with iZombie which as you said won't be airing in Arrow's slot, plus the premiere date for iZombie is due 1 day prior to Arrow coming back from its month break.
It mostly comes down to simple math in regards breaks, America have their prime time season from Sept to May which is 40 weeks in total with a maximum season being these days at most 24 episodes. They need to take breaks at some point and as such will try to schedule them during public holidays where live audiences (Live 18-49 audience is what counts not viewers or people who DVR) might take a major hit anyway.
Other factors may be sporting events like March Madness as the networks think we need to take a break to get this show to finish in May and this is where we think we'd lose most viewers to sport anyway. There is also the Nielsen sweeps (Feb, May, July and Nov) months and nothing matters more than Nielsen ratings for the majority of channels.

Only reason I thought it may be an issue is because that's why they've taken a break with The Flash, all seems a bit daft to be honest.

Re: Arrow
Well iZombie when it premieres will be getting the Flash as a lead in which suggests they wan't it to do well since Flash has the highest ratings on that network.
It really just comes down to this 40 week prime time season America has and they often want to start a show in Sept and end it in May. Nielsen ratings in the 18-49 (50+ people don't buy Poopie apparently or are dirt poor) demo are really all that matters for most networks as this effects ad revenue so the networks will base when breaks are taken round this and the other factors as I mentioned.
I think us British look at it and think its weird but its how they've been running there tv schedule for 40 years. I mean British shows tend to have 3-10 episode runs depending on the show which can often mean we have 8-10 months before the next season, the Americans due to their breaks only really ever have 3-4 months for most shows.
The three things that annoy me are how focused in everything is on ratings and since its all to do with ad revenue then recorded shows don't count (fast forward through ads). They are slowly looking at the DVR (SKY recording) issue but not fast enough for me. The 18-409 demo annoys me also, I can understand ignoring the under 18's as they rarely have disposable income but 50+ just seems weird to me to ignore in this day and age.
Lastly is how dependent American shows seem to be on lead-ins, surprisingly the avg American will be more likely to watch a new show if they liked the show that aired before it. The logic doesn't seem to be based around the lead in drawing extra numbers to the new show but rather people forgetting to change the channel and the next show getting inflated ratings from it. Sometimes why its worth looking at the half hour ratings and noticing the drop of in viewers as people come back from whatever they were doing after their last show and change the channel.
Edit: Just to add its sometimes why you hear the phrase "lead-in dependent" against new shows, as normally they will get a lead-in until coming back from Winter break and then they are tried without one to see if the ratings hold up or if the ratings were just because people were forgetting to change channel.
