Wondering whether or not to get FM2013. Firstly, is it any good? Secondly, can you do all the editing to the backgrounds and player pictures using the editor? Just want a general view on it.

I've got it but I havent had time to play it. I started a game up but literally clicked continue twice. I've not noticed that you can do this via the editor but I download a pack which works anyway

I bought it yesterday, it's down to £20 from £30 in Asda.

I normally edit the game a lot so at the moment I'm trying to get it altogether at the moment.

San Marino in Seria c1 in Italy, while I create a San Marino club league for my reserve team to play in.

What's the issue with the specifications on this one because I know people has issues last year. I bought last year's even though my laptop is about 2 to 3 years old and it just worked fine, not amazingly fast but good enough.

Hope that my laptop is okay for the job with - 3 GB ram, AMD-Turion Dual Processor - 2.20 GHz (If there's a tech expert out there)

I've just purchased it today, always try to get Liverpool back to their former glory however with a small £3m budget and quite a tough target I may not last very long. Lost in the qualifiers 5-3 on agg to Vitese so I'm out of Europe already!

Yer, I don't even bother with any of the 3D match stuff at all. Just watch the commentary and normal view, just the way I like it and my laptop likes it. I reckon my laptop should be able to cope with this one but technology and games are progressing so much, I will probably need to upgrade in the next year or two. As long as you can edit the data, backgrounds, logos and kits etc then I'm happy.

anybody know if it's possible to have the stadium backgrounds for each team in the background on matchday?????

It was possible in the previous versions, is there a patch available or skin that can allow this.

Minor Update to a new start.

Hertford Town are a level 9 team that start in the South Midlands Division and tbh my first season was ok as I did a last minute charge to 5th from mid table with 16-17 year olds no less.

Changed up all my players second season and picked up Cameron Brownlie ( Still a freaking god) for free before gaining promotion on the final day of the 2nd season. Steven Darcy ( ROI GK I got on a free) got his first cap too. Got a few 19 year olds as i'm still an AMT team.

Isthmian League 1st Div North:

Turn semi pro, hand out contracts, regret a few and signed a few 20-22 year olds to bolster my def.

I HATED my start and I thought I couldn't get any worse...then December came...I went undefeated, skyrocketed from 18th to the play offs, won my final 10 games to get promoted to the Southern Premier League with 5 points to spare. Darcy is now on the ROI u-19 and u-21 teams as a regular and he is still only 18.

Southern Premier League

I swiped as many BSN / BSS guys as I could and got rid of junk on frees to lower league teams. Now i'm one of the faves to be promoted. 2nd game in atm.

In January now, lost in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup to a team 2 leagues below me...

In the QF of the Southern League Cup

Been at the top of the table for a LOOONG time. BSS here I come?

Rejected an approach from Cheltenham

After a pain in the arse season I finish second and have to fight through the play offs. Beat Oxford in the finals 9-8 on penalties.

Also won the Southern League Cup Smile

Blue Square South

Brownlie is now worth 110k!

Also got Jordan Wynter on a free but I can't upgrade my midfield much due to a transfer budget of 0 so I am relying on a decent strike force and defence.

Also got another u-19 debut cap for defender Gerard Jess (NIR)

Oh and I have enough quality to get promoted at 16/1

guess what....

I won the BBS, got a norwegian keeper, just signed a 15 year old swiss kid and sold a few defenders to make money, only for the board to slap seating improvements on me for 125k...

Blue Square Premier!

I am spending 1.7k a week over my budget but i really don't mind as my start has been ok

3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss and I have no-one valued above 100k.

I now have 7 international players on my team. ( 2 wales u19, 1 NI u19, 1 swiss u19, 2 ROI u21 and 1 NI under 21)

Great start with Hertford, hows it going now?

I'm not buying FM13 (I skip years), but I've gone back to FM12 this week to do my first 'big club' game (normally I do Nuneaton Borough or Bromley games). I chose Arsenal only to find most of the team out injured for months, a transfer budget of £45m that went on Fellaini + Llorente, and a youth team that gets spanked by everyone! If this is what it's like at a big club, give me non-league anyway Laugh

Got a new PC yesterday and for the first time in years I'm able to run Football Manager at full spec. Started a game with Liverpool, using my tried and tested "ticka tacka" football.

Seems to be settling in now, drew against Everton and Reading first two games and beat QPR in my third EPL match. Qualified for the Europa League group stages with ease, scoring 13 goals in four games. Nuri Sahin broke his leg in my first game so terminated his loan, and brought in Stephen El Shaarawy for the season.

My only defeat as Arsenal manager, 12 games in, was a 4-2 loss to Millwall in the League Cup. Despite getting three injuries in the first 20mins and having to bring on RVP, Arteta and Walcott (playing FM12).

The game deliberately tries to mess with your head, I swear.

Started my game again, was trying to perfect my tactics but got 13 injuries which made the game a complete joke.

Started again with Liverpool, sold Skrtel to Newcastle for £15M, bought Hooper and Quaresma. My formation is a 4-1-2-2-1, basically the team attacks together except for my DM and two CBs. So far have only lost one game using this tactic to Arsenal. Hoping that I get a nice transfer budget for January because using Carragher at CB will only last for so long.

Just finished my 2nd season with Birmingham, won the playoff final after losing it the season before! Luckily I got a wealthy investor to take over when Carson Yeung buggered off!

Here is my team, I've gone fully English (4-2-3-1)

GK - Jack Butland
RB - Chris Solly - Signed from Charlton
CB - Lewis Dunk - On loan from Brighton, will sign him!
CB - Tom Lees - Signed from Leeds
LB - Aaron Creswell - Signed from Ipswich
CM - Liam Trotter - Signed from Millwall
CM - Jacob Butterfield - On loan from Norwich
RW - Nathan Redmond
CAM - Will Hughes - Signed from Derby
LW - Thomas Ince - Signed from Blackpool
ST - Grant Holt - Signed from Norwich on the cheap!

I sold all the deadweight on high wages, and have basically overhauled the original squad bar Butland and Redmond! Premier League next season will be tough though!

Just finished my third season with Celtic. Won the Champions league and the domestic treble. Easier than I thought it would be to be honest. Sorted my coaching and scouting out when I first arrived. Haven't spent too much, but everything has been invested in youth. I have two teams, one for weekends (league) and another for mid week (Cups/ Champions League).

Mid week team:

GK - Fraser Forster
RB - Adam Matthews
CB - Thomas Rogne
CB - Mamadou Camara - Respawn, free transfer 3.5 stars ability four and a half star potential and only 17
LB - Diego Contento 4 million from Bayern, awesome LB
DM - Muralha - cost 825k, Now a Brazil international, great player
CM - Victor Wanyama
CM - Joe Allen - Liverpool got relegated, cost 2.9 Million
RW - Nathan Redmond Free Transfer, England international
LW - Kevin Grosskreutz 4.5 Mill from Dortmund. Goal machine
ST - Ademilson - 5.25 mill. Brazil international.

Depending on who I'm playing, I often take Muralha out and replace him with Adryan at CAM. Cost similar and seems to be on the verge of a Brazil cap.

Weekend team:

GK - Andre Almeida French U21 goalkeeper 800k
RB - Wallace - Free transter. recently signed for Chelsea
CB - Walter Taramasco - Uruguayan international at 17, 5 star potential free transfer
CB - Doria - 500k must signing for any team
LB - Grimaldi - Released by Barca 4.5 Star potential
CM - Lewis Kidd Celtic yougster with 4 star potential
CM - Joe Ledley
RW -James Forrest
CAM - Adelio Vanazzi - Uruguayan respawn - 4.5 star potential free transfer
LW - Camara French respawn who is 4.5 star potential cost 1.8 Mill
ST - Gary Hooper/Tony Watt

Have a plethora of other youngsters who rotate/replace through injury. Also won the Europa league in my first season. Celtic are a great team to go for blooding youngsters.

I am doing a new kinda challenge:

Conquer All ( or Cesar Mode)

Win the top league in EVERY playable country with a team that is from the bottom.

Rules:

No custom leagues or nations
You MUST start in the countrys lowest division each time.
Sunday League Footballer to start.

Progress so far.

Started in Norway in 2013 with Nesodden

Won the 2nd division ( group 2 i think) on the final day

Qualified for the Premier Division through the play offs ( 3-6th play each other and then the winner of that plays the premier team that finished 14th over 2 legs. STUPIDLY intensive)

As soon as I got to the Prem I had 2.1 mill upgrades to do, went into administration, players were sold and couldnt get any in until 3 months after the CVA kicked in. Then the season started and I luckily kept my strikeforce, a decent MC and my GK as well as 1 good DC.

Finished 1 point and place above the relegation play off spot. Now to rebuild my squad...as I have only 17 players...

Advice for Norway:

Youth SUCK unless you get premier division rejects
Norwegian Cup always draws the lower team at home
Build CASH or suffer administration ( prem gives you a ton anyway if you survive)

A quick Norway update

Upgraded the training facilities and youth facilities with the prize money from the NPL
Survived my second season with 30 points and used the funds to upgrade my training facility again. Got myself a wonderkid MR on loan until the end of next ( now this) season

Got Brondby IF as an affiliate ( Denmark) n loaded their leagues in. Got a few loan kids from them, not too many but only until...july i think but I also snagged 3 guys on 4.5 > 5 potential. Replaced my 2.5 gk with a 4.5 youngster

Now 10 games into my 3rd season at the top. Predicted at 2000-1 for the title...I'M THIRD!

oh and i'm STILL semi professional!

I've started one with Sheffield Wednesday. Brought in Mackie and Macmanaman on loan, and signed Carew on a free transfer.

Not sure why but I always try and play Tika Taka football and it really didn't work with these, got smashed 3-0 by Scunthorpe, started to play a more direct style of play after that. Didn't look to be working at 3-0 down at half time against Brighton however came back to draw 3-3.

Avoiding relegation could be a big ask though.

----------------Vorm

Jallet---Williams/Caulker----Moras----Taylor

---------McArthur---Aquilani---Cairney

Ramirez-------------------------------------Sinclair

------------------------Cox

My real strength is in depth though where I have lots of good players in back up including: Kolo Toure, Shelvey, Dyer, De Jong, Graham, Alen, Britton, Nacho, Danny Fox.

I did tika-taka football as well, the hardest part is scoring goals. My strikers tend to struggle to get many goals and go long periods without scoring. Wingers are best source of goals.

I also do get thrashed every now and again, losing 7-0 to Tottenham one year.

Decided to take a look at Pompey last night. If you want a real challenge then this is the side this year.

I've only got 9 players of the age of 21 in the side, I'm not able to sign anyone because although the club was bought it was not brought out of administration. This could be a save where I get relegated in the first season and then try and rebuild.

This is by far the hardest save I've even done on football manager. Have played 11 league games now and have 2 points, seem to concede most of my goals after 80 minutes.

I've already settled for relegation as no matter what tactics I try I can't keep clean sheets. Hopefully I can make a couple of free transfers or loan signings in January.

I can't imagine how tough that is. At least with Rangers you'd get a half-decent team that can stroll the league.

That's the problem, when the new owners came in they gave me a £1m transfer budget which I adjusted all to the wages so I could sign some good free transfers, but they still won't let me offer more than £90 per week and even if they accept that they won't let me complete the deal. mad
