The lions needs a few wildcards. Picking Henson would still not come anywhere close to what Woodward did to the poor lions in 2005. Henson deserves this after being royally shafted in 2005.

I agree that there should be a couple of wildcard, hopefully Gatland will too. Don't know enough about how Henson is playing to know if he should be one but it still seems unlikely.

Woodward made mistakes but that NZ team would have beaten any Lions team that was put out by any coach in 2005.

Why do you keep putting up questions that have nothing to do with the title?

Less reasons to pick him then Woodward had to pick Wilkinson in 05.

None of the reason you state above, is good enough for Henson to be on the Lions tour. IMHO.

OK How about there isn't an inside centre worthy of the name currently playing in that position in any of the nations from which the Lions will be selected.

Henson was a better player than Brad Barratt when he was 8 years old. Roberts maybe when he was 10. Scott he would have embarrassed soon after getting his arse slapped by the midwife.

Those who cannot see Henson's ability are just offended by his percieved personal vanity and blinded to his ability. Gatland loves him, but it would take big balls to go against the grain and do what is right. I hope he does

The main word their is (WAS )a better player. He is not now.
You Welsh keep having a go about us English living in the past ( RWC 2003 ) And yet you keep doing the same with Henson.

Cracking generalisation there Madge, fair play.

Henson didn't turn out for LW on Sat, when he was planned to. I assume he's injured again -- which is a shame because he was just putting a decent run of games together. He doesn't seem to be able to play rugby week-in, week-out any more, which would rule him out of Lions contention and Wales contention. He has to prove his fitness first, and then form might come if his fitness holds up.

Picking Henson would be an insult to the few hard working and more deserving players not going to the tour ... Not even sure he would make a barbarian team tbh

I think the Lions should send Henson, definitely. But not as a player. He should be sent on a paid media tour of Australia. He could show case his dancing, host a reality TV programme where British contestants are sent to spend time in mining communities, another on Sydney's clubbing scene and then a series of extreme adventure sports articles, and perhaps a show on how to survive that monster train journey out to Perth without spray tan or leg sahving equipment.

Firstly, it would make great TV if the rugby was dire, and secondly it would distract the British media from any indiscretions by the English members of the team (I am having a friendly joke here! please no offence!)
