Favourite Threesome
Now that I have your attention, I am of course talking about favourite trilogy of fights and not the other type of threesome (that involves a local member of parliament usually).
So I found this list on that amazing thing called the net - do you agree with it?
1. Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier (1971, 1974, 1975)
2. Tony Zale-Rocky Graziano (1946, 1947, 1948)
3. Riddick Bowe-Evander Holyfield (1992, 1993, 1995)
4. Barney Ross-Jimmy McLarnin (1934, 1934, 1934)
5. Floyd Patterson-Ingemar Johansson (1959, 1960, 1961)
6. Emile Griffith-Benny "Kid" Paret (1961,1961, 1962)
7. Muhammad Ali-Ken Norton (1973, 1973, 1976)
8. Battling Nelson-Joe Gans (1906, 1908, 1908)
9. Arturo Gatti-Micky Ward (2002, 2002, 2003)
10. Marco Antonio Barrera-Erik Morales (2000, 2002, 2004)
So which is your favourite trilogy?

Truss-Ryan- Bullock.............
Pazienza-Haugen was fun...........
Think Ali-Frazier would be the pick for me.

Although it eventually stretched to four fights, the saga of Vazquez-Marquez was really encapsulated in their first three stoushes; the fourth was a comparative non-event. If I'm allowed that one, it would rank second to Ali-Frazier for me.

The same for Pacquiao vs Marquez. The 4th didnt really last the pace as Manny got flattened. But the 3 previous fight were captivating.

Who's Ryan Bullock, Truss? You're allowed one more.

Gatti vs Ward was really just a trilogy of hearts.
No real skill or power. Fantastic viewing, but Ali vs Frazier gets my vote

I'm sure I once heard the Captain speak in glowing terms of a Minter-Finnegan rivalry back in the day.....
Was that a good trilogy..

I keep trying to talk my lass into one with her best mate, she's a babe. Keep getting the knock back though.
If that doesn't materialise then I would go with Gatti vs Ward.

Got to be Ali Frazier. The first was about as big a fight as there as ever been and the third would rank amongst the best heavyweight title fights ever.
Only a domestic trilogy but Michael Jones vs Jamie Moore was a lot of fun

On a UK level, it was absolutely outstanding, Truss. Pretty good on a world-class/fringe world-class level as well. The Finnegan brothers were always fantastic value for money and could give the best something to think about. Kevin fought Hagler twice when Marv was at his absolute peak (ie pre-title) and acquitted himself admirably, while Chris's effort to take Bob Foster's world title made for one of the best fights I've ever seen in this country.

Grandpa Trussman was a huge fan of Paul Pender......Until I was of an age to understand I thought he was a cross between Superman and Iron Man listening to his stories!!
Chuck in Pender vs Downes........Grandpa will be pleased whereever he is now!!

I think that Vasquez vs Marquez deserves a mention here, we can discount the fourth fight since Vasquez was finished at that point.

Silly judging aside, Marquez and Pacquiao's first 3 fights were entertaining and it's probably my favourite trilogy, then again I'm a new school boxing fan.

Morales vs Barera. It helped that I always felt like I was watching Fight Club because of the audience itimacy.

Its a hard to pick one, between Ali - Fraizer and Manny Pacman - Marqez. Probably have to give ali - fraizer the nudge, due to the distastefulness of the decisions in the many - marquez match.

On a serious note , the Dennis Andries v Jeff Harding series probably doesn't deserve to be on that list but had some thoroughly entertaining moments.

If Rios and Alvarado had another cracking fight it would make my top 10 list.
Those 2 could fight every year for the rest of their careers and i'd pay to watch!

Arturo Gatti-Micky Ward (2002, 2002, 2003) - Didn't realize these fights took place over such a short time period!!
For me, the above and as has been mentioned by others the Marquez vs Vasquez triology are my personal faves.
Both trilogies became sheer battles of will where the fighters held nothing back.

Re: Favourite Threesome
The Saldivar-Winstone trilogy just has to be there, for me. Their second fight was just absolutely fantastic for the full fifteen rounds, and every minute of them. The best and most enjoyable Featherweight title fight of them all if you ask me....Which nobody did, of course!
Most of the other outstanding candidates have been mentioned, so as an extra I'll chuck Ruben Olivares-Chucho Castillo in there, albeit I haven't actually seen their final fight yet! But the first was Olivares at his best and very interesting, while the second had that interesting and unexpected turn towards the end.

Re: Favourite Threesome
It has to be Gatti-Ward for purely visceral reasons, but like others Vasquez-Marquez and Ali-Frazier get my vote too. Ali v Norton is quite underrated and oft forgotten.

Re: Favourite Threesome
Gatti - Ward for pure excitement value is #1 for me, but close behind is Ali - Frazier,
I think the glaring omission from the list at the top is Vasquez - Marquez though, that was an exceptional trilogy, I choose to ignore the fourth fight as it just wasn't quite the same.
