Surrey announced last month that Mahmood will play in the Friends Life T20 but he is now set to make his return to Surrey colours at Derby.

Thanks, JimBob.
Even though you don't ask (!), I'll suggest the 3 to miss out as Jewell (unluckily replaced by Mahmood), Tremlett (being kept back for this week's CC match) and Meaker (or Dernbach).
I know many understandably want the Brain binned but I think Adams will stick with him.

Guidford's team - Roy, Davies, Ponting, Solanki, de Bruyn, Wilson, Mahmood, Batty, Lewis, Dernbach, Keedy - would have an average age of 33.
Curiously, there would also be no players between the ages of 27 (Wilson/ Dernbach) and 35 (Batty), seen as a cricketers prime. Something wrong?

Yes, something is wrong. As Goochie flagged yesterday, the average age of our 6 bowlers against Scotland was 35.Shelsey93 wrote:Guidford's team - Roy, Davies, Ponting, Solanki, de Bruyn, Wilson, Mahmood, Batty, Lewis, Dernbach, Keedy - would have an average age of 33.

To be clear, "my team" above is the one I believe Adams will select rather than my preferred XI. That said, the squad is so imbalanced we don't have many suitable options.

Our team, and squad, does resemble Dad's Army - with a couple of youthful extra "Pikes" thrown in.

Corporal - yes, reminds me of Richard Spiller's (Surrey Ad) comment that we resemble a Fathers and Sons team.

I didn't realise that Saqlain Mushtaq is 'only' 36. Time to re-sign him as the second spinner for the second half of the season... (only joking)...

Re: surrey vs derbyshire falcons YB40
Is Batty going to remain as captain with Ponting in the team?
Isn't Ansari on school hols this week?!
I suppose Clive, Boy George and the Burger Van will have to wait a decade before getting into this team!!
I agree with guildford that Jewell is certain to miss out, and as we're still 'managing' Tremlett's fitness I don't know why he's even in the squad! I assume one our 24 or 27 year olds will also need 'rest' before tomorrow's game!

Thanks for keeping us updated, JimBob.
Pleased Jewell keeps his place. Must be a thrill for him to appear alongside Ponting having played most of his senior cricket for Surrey seconds and Guildford (the club, not me!).
I'm as sure as I can be that Tremlett has been left out as part of "managing his workload" (yuk term) so he can play the CC match starting tomorrow.

How highly is Roy rated amongst you men in the know? I don't watch a great deal of domestic cricket but I've seen him a few times and he looks a real bull of a player.
Most times I've seen he gets out between 30-50 so hopefully he'll go on a bit here.

Hope you guys are watching this, superb hitting from Davies and Roy - 81 from the 6 powerplay overs.

Hibbz - Jason Roy is very talented and is a crucial cog already in the Surrey one day set up. He has struggled as yet to cement his place in the 4 day team but I think the club has to take some blame for not finding him a position and sticking to it.

Rain halts proceedings.... Play due to restart at 2130. But it's a washout...

36 year old with gammy legs - sounds like an ideal signing to bring a wealth of expertise and experience to our side.

Re: surrey vs derbyshire falcons YB40
Just watched a recording of our knock on SKY. Top stuff from Davies and Roy. Derbys looked a poor outfit but we still had to make the most of it and we did until the reappearance of that wretched rain!
Also saw an interview that Ponting had with Wardy and Nasser. Ponting generally came across quite well saying the right sort of things. However, I was surprised and concerned to hear him say that he hadn't played IPL cricket for Mumbai for the last month as he had dropped himself for poor form and had been focusing on a coaching role. Not following the IPL, that was news to me and not of the good variety!
