ERC: Talk about kicking a club when they're down Empty ERC: Talk about kicking a club when they're down

Post by HammerofThunor Thu 30 May 2013, 12:41 pm

ERC have lodged a complaint relating to Keats playing for London Welsh. They've had point deducted, fined, relegated and now they have an ERC in the air. Poor basterds. No idea what the likely outcome is. Fortunately the ERC will not exist by the time Welsh could be back in the premiership so future bans won't matter.

To be fair, they actually got off pretty lightly before, given the number of games Keats played while ineligible.

I'm sure their lawyers will be enjoying this.

Well it can't. The PRL have done a deal for the English games with BT. ERC have done a deal for all the games with Sky. The ERC will HAVE to end once the current agreement ends next season. They might be replaced by the ECR or RCE or CRE but they will have to go. Along with any bans etc (unless of course the CER decide to carry them on)

Ah! That's true. In many other peoples opinion it can quite easily however. Always be careful not to speak in absolutes. Even Mystic Meg can be wrong........

To be fair they deserve to be done by the ERC, after all didn't they get given points in the Amlin for playing against a team that feilded an in elegible player ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/20728702 ) As harsh as it seems, if they are happy to benefit from someone being punished for a breach of the reules then they have to accept that if they do the same thing they will be punished too.

Grenoble won a match with an ineligible player - LW were given a default 5pt win.

Yeah that was the one, just edited my post with the link to the aticle.

In the end of the day if they were happy to profit from Grenoble making the same mistake then they must accept being dealt with in a similar way.

Nope. No opinion in it. You can't have two TV deals for the same rights. Either the English aren't involved (ERC gone) or the ERC is disbanded and reformed under a new guise (ERC gone).

Nah. You could have English clubs on the naughty step for a year again. Then the Erc let them back in with their tail between their legs......again.

Or Bt could back out.

Or far too many other things could happen.

All a lot more likely than you changing your black and white attitude .

Notice has been given. ERC ends at the end of next season. No ifs or buts. It's done. It might be replaced by some very similar but it won't be the same.

I would have noticed if the house was broken in to. the key word is "broken". Also, I would notice if all the furniture had to be logged as companies do. I could just look at the serial number or manufacture date.

Might not make a difference to my life but they'd still be different (even if there WAS no way to detect to it)

I wonder if you are a man who is losing his hair?

Would be very ironic with all the hairs you are splitting there.
