First topic message reminder :

Thought i'd create this thread as there wasn't one already.

My prediction: One of two things will happen, Australia will hammer us or we'll win on penalties.

Credit to Corbs, had he been fit last time it would very likely of been 3 - 0.

VERY well played to the Lions. A well deserved win not only for the Lions but all so for NH rugby in general.

When the Wallibies came back with 16 points to 19 i thought the Lions was going to lose in the dying minutes again. But well played to every body in the squad.

Great day! Nice chatting to you all! It's been emotional!
Well done the lads - well done Gatland - I was aghast at some of your decisions but well played - a historic win.

Far too many people here getting on there high horse looking to have a pop at anyone who questioned Gatland's selections.

It's a discussion forum, people are allowed an opinion.  Give it up, it's done.  Enjoy the win, grab a beer and gets some sun on your face, it's a happy day people, we beat the shackle draggers.

Also to note, a win doesn't clear him (or any of the other coaches) of any mistakes.

Well done Lions from a Kiwi. I really didn't mind who as long as there was good rugby.
Didn't like the first test, didn't see the second.
Obviously the Lions scrummed the Wallabies off the park but also I thought the kicking by the Wallabies was very poor. 1/2 penny played very well - excellent positional play but gee the Wallabies kicked terribly.

To be fair to Gatland while a win doesn't clear him of mistakes, a loss doesn't confirm mistakes either

Reckon JD deserves credit to for his part in Sextons try which was without doubt the major turning point as Australia where fighting back well untill then. Started and finished by Sexton but brilliant skill beating 2 defenders by the man most believed should not of been on the field. Well done JD. It will be s hell of a welcome back at PYS.

RDS, there's a marked difference between expressing an opinion on rugby matters (selection/tactics) and looking to have a row and rub peoples faces in it. Very Happy

Well done lions. I was critical of a few selections, specifically Wyn Jones as captain and him and parling in second row. But they were excellent.
Front row was a huge difference aswell. Corbs proved today he's a country mile ahead of vunipola...

Well done Lions, fantastic performance to beat Australia by such a margin.

Disappointed for Brian to miss out but Davies played well and Roberts made a big difference with his ability to punch holes in midfield.

The pack were fantastic and Halfpenny is simply the best player on the planet right now.

Wales have an incredible panel of players just now, a real golden generation... in fact if Jonny Sexton was Welsh they'd be the best side on the planet.

Not a great tour, the Wallabies were very poor by SH standards but a series victory is still a huge achievement.

Totally agree, flaming and getting on a high horse, no need for that.

This last week there has been incredible tension around gatlands selections, and some seriously vitriolic posts aimed at him and JD. I have to say I am so relieved that the Lions won (and won well) because if we hadn't, this place would have imploded.

I think I'd rather have this (the lesser of the 2 evils). cider Proper Cider http://www.westons-cider.co.uk/products/wyld-wood/

Not a slight against the Lions but was anyone else surprised at how easily the Aussies gave up in the final quarter, normally famed for the competitiveness and never say die attitude in sport, but this did seem to give up once the game got away from them.

The Lions won because they got the platform from the pack this time that had been missing in previous game. Finally they got the dominance in the scrum and got the lineout steady. BODgate turned out to be a non issue. They would have won easily with or without him thanks to the pack. Would have been nice to have him on the bench to come on for the last ten though, especially seeing as the backline finally had the platform to attack.

I think you can only do so much without a scrum Mr Scotland.

The Wallabies did well to claw it back but with no set piece platform or top place kicker they were always up against it.

The decision making from Australia was questionable. They began chasing the game from the first few minutes. The first penalty to turn down three points was absolute madness.

For all the inevitable and predictable quiet Lydiate talk, I think he played a big part in keeping him under wraps in the last two tests, just by the fact they know how he defends etc. Plus the balance he offered to the backrow twice, I don't think it can be underestimated.

For all the criticism Gatland gets for his barbs, he was spot on when he said he didn't think Australia was be as emotionally there as they weren't trying to overturn a defeat like they were in test two.

Mad wasn't it. I thought that. I had a sweat on when it went to 13-19 as it brought back memories of lady week's six point margin before their try. Toby's turnover swung momentum right back to us and it was great character to have that fantastic purple patch not long after

Well I was away at the weekend so didn't see the match, obviously was told the score and today have looked at the match report, and have to say well done, congrats Lions, we were defo defeated.

Looks like the writing was on the wall for the Wallabies by the tenth minute. Disappointed we didn't seem to have been able to summon anything up. That, of course, simply could have been the Lions did not allow us any chance to pick up.

So that's it for another 12 years for us, have the RC to look forward to now. As quoted by heapsa losing sides, hope we learnt from this encounter ( I doubt you learn anything from a thrashing ) and now the only was is up and forward.

Congrats again to the Lions, and thanks to all the posters here for a very entertaining month.

I think we have the beginning of a squad that may yet step up in the RC, though from the last game I would suspect the kiwis and boks licking their lips. But watch the rising of the Wallabies!!! Smile
