Rain curtailed play in most of the matches.  Sussex made a reasonable recovery against Yorks.  Surrey on a precarious 195 - 8 in the vital match against Somerset at the foot of Div 1 - but even that represents some sort of recovery.

Jimbo - thanks for the thread. Not been arouind much today - otherwise would have commented more and earlier.

From a Surrey perspective, concerning that relegation rivals Derbys and Notts both started well in their respective matches before the rains came.

Not much to report from Lord's today. Mullaney played nicely, Murtagh was his usual self and they went off for bad light at half four... that's about it.

I did speak to Steven Mullaney though. Here is the interview: http://deepextracover.blog.com/2013/09/11/utility-man-mullaney-enjoying-new-role/

NB: Thanks for the thread Jimbob

Good day's cricket at Lord's today. Notts showed plenty of intent, unexpectedly sending the big-hitting Andre Adams up to 7. But on a pitch which Chris Rogers described as "easy-paced" Middlesex are none down overnight and could yet overhaul Notts' total.

A pair for Hashim Amla as well, eh. Surrey could have done without that!
