Monty Python to reform? Empty Monty Python to reform?

Well, according to that huge organ of truth and propriety, The Sun, they are.

So what about venues and sketches to celebrate their return?

Maybe they should re-enact the Life of Brian at the Retired Donkey Sanctuary?

Must be Cleese's idea…his ex has taken him to the cleaners which is why he is now doing a dreadful tour

He must have copied the idea from King ARFU.

Where do Monty Python RFC play? Great news though. I don't like to see clubs fade into the wilderness.

Monty.................. please don't! The last album in 98 was schit with only one good song on it that harkened back to the great 69 come-back tour.

Perhaps better than Pink Floyd in their day when they reformed in 66 but ever since they joined up again in '05, well, it's just geriatrics singing to zimmer frames really... to be nice about it.

I bet it's about money.

Cleese is in Dubai at the moment. In Time Out Dubai, he freely admits that four wives are all a bit expensive. Something that locals here will appreciate.

He can't even call this tour The Alimony Tour. That's what he called the last one.

His tour is so bad at least half the show is a Q and A…he has no material and no cash…basically owned by his exes who now live abroad on his cash. Sounds like the WRU.

I hope if the guys are going to help him (Cleese) out that he'll at least try to help them out by being Monty Python funny rather than the version of 'funny' he's tried to be since the Faulty Towers days. A show I only ever found to be mildly funny at best.

I just don't know how five elderly men with an entire history of 'other' stuff now lying behind them can actually reignite the glorious anarchic, irreverent and surreal grandeur of Monty Python.

Bears a strong resemblance to the long-proposed Ghostbusters 3 ie a group of elderly men clearly afflicted with dementia in thinking that flogging the now-decomposed horse will do anything but leave a bitter taste in the mouths of the generations who, up to now, have reminisced fondly about the franchise in its heyday. At least Bill Murray knows better than to let himself get sucked in by it.

Joking aside, I literally can't believe how many succumb to this specific temptation. Resurrecting a franchise in itself, let alone decades later, just doesn't work, at least not to the extent to justify the initial attempt as it will always be compared to and derided via the original. And yet the old trap continues to claim careers. It's practically a cycle.

Out of curiosity, how does any of this relate to rugby?
