Silva vs. Belfort

For the highly anticipated main event for the UFC middleweight championship, Anderson Silva restated his dominance with one of the rarest knockouts in all of mixed martial arts history. Anderson Silva circled Belfort for the first 2 minutes of the fight drawing boos from the crowd and feinted and never engaged Belfort, the respect for each other was very visible. Belfort landed a leg kick and shortly after a one two combo. The fight then went to the ground after a Belfort takedown and immediately was back to the feet where the end was near for Belfort. Anderson unleashed a left front kick he feinted to the body, Belfort was expecting it to the body as well and it ended up right in his face buckling Belfort knocking him out ending the fight in the round 1 and proving there is only challengers but no contenders the super fight of all super fights is now in the hands of Georges St. Pierre beating Jake Shields as Anderson proved he is the pound for pound king and isn’t going anywhere.
Franklin vs. Griffin

From the get go Forrest Griffin was the aggressor grinding out Franklin on the ground through the first two rounds with minimal striking and mostly wrestling. In the third round the pace quickened and Franklin mounted some offense. Griffin however used his size and grinded out a 3 round unanimous decision over Franklin. Griffin acknowledged his layoff taking a toll and causing him to rely on grinding the fight out on the ground. Before the decision was announced the two friends were already breaking down the fight with one another and really could care less about the decision a great moment of real friendship and sportsmanship.

Evans Injured Bones in for title

Jon Jones made short work of Ryan Bader winning by guillotine choke in round 2 of a fight he was dominating until that point. From the opening bell “Bones” dominated Bader leaving him no openings or any opportunity of landing a punch. Bader tried to rely on his wrestling as he always has and “Bones” stuffed everything Bader threw at him. Bader couldn’t muster anything positive almost being submitted several times before finally getting caught in round 2. Jon Jones is living up to every bit of the hype surrounding him and at this point nothing seems impossible. After the match it was announced by Joe Rogan that Rashad Evans blew out his knee in training and is not going to face “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128 in Newark, New Jersey and the title shot was offered to the 23 year old Jones.

Jon Jones facing Maurico “Shogun” Rua for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 128 is official and Jones will have the opportunity to fight for a championship that many figured he would have to win another fight to earn. Jon Jones was emotional dropping to his knees after the announcement, Jon “Bones” Jones was tearing up as he accepted the unexpected title shot at the surprise of himself and thousands in attendance and millions of viewers at home. Jon “Bones” Jones vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will be the toughest fight yet for Jones and a very difficult one for the experienced Rua as well.

Amazingly quick finish in the Silva/Belfort fight considering they didnt really engage much to start with, I was hoping to see alot more action in that one but at least the end was memorable.
Bones was impressive I didnt expect Bader to be dominated that much, hopefully he'll come back from this and string some more wins together. thumbsup
I thought Franklin would be too much for Griffin after such a long lay-off but Griffin did a good job on him, especially on the floor.
Good to see a Brit get a KO on the undercard too !! :joeybarton:

Roll on 127 !!
