Future HOF Ballots
Ok, I stole this list from the Bad Left Hook blog. It details the likely candidates for future HOF ballots and I've predicted who'll make the cut (and who won't) in brackets. What do you think?
Next year looks so poor, it seems likely that modern candidates who have been overlooked in previous years might be in with a shout, so who gets in from the list below? Hamed? Curry? Pintor?

Hatton should be in, Hamed, Curry and Pintor looking at some of the names in there now..

If Curry doesn't get in next year, he never will. I have a sneaking suspicion Hamed will make it.

Re: Future HOF Ballots
Maybe next year's a chance for the voters to RIGHT a few wrongs.
Mind you, some of those eligible to vote weren't even in nappies when Curry was doing his thing so it's little wonder.

Tend to agree with this, next years lot of first time eligibles seem a grim lot and I tend to agree with the no all have against their names. Would seem the ideal time to make room for Naz and Curry. Also from a purely selfish perspective I am planning a trip to the Hall of Fame weekend over the next couple of years. Would dearly love to be there if and when Naz gets the nod.

As most of us agree the HOF do not get too much right, however Ottke's continued exclusion gives me a warm feeling inside. Long may it continue.

Agree if hamed doesn't get in this year he never will. Well not unless they widen the doors at canastota.
The list for 2015 is truly shocking and deserves a straight run of no thank you's.
Any new posters should check out the v2 hall of fame with its strictly boxing related, and tough, entry criteria.

When did joe calzaghe become a hall of fame fighter? Would he have been a first ballot approved fighter if he hadn't of fought Hopkins? Would Kessler have been enough? Probably a thought for a different thread. Might be interesting to look at when fighters went from world class to hall of fame.

Re: Future HOF Ballots
Jim, personally think the Hopkins win probably tipped him into a first ballot guy. Obviously five years after retirement before you are eligible and given Bernard has spent a good bulk of that period making younger fighters look daft the win has really matured with age.
VC, am guessing but don't think so, which is one of the issues with the hall, in a poor year they either vote in guys who have missed previously, or guys who would not have a cat in hells chance in a stronger year.

Re: Future HOF Ballots
Named, Curry and Nunn all served sentences a few years ago when it wasn't cool maybe that is the problem..
Liston took an age to get in...
HOF used to be for good boys

Re: Future HOF Ballots
Calzaghe was a genuine two-weight world champion at super middle and light heavyweight (as in "the man" at both weights). That's pretty worthy stuff.

I don't agree with all this genuine crap....
It's longevity and opposition...
Bollox to the linear garbage..
GGG is the man at 160 for me now

Re: Future HOF Ballots
You don't agree with the fact Calzaghe proved he was the best man at two weights?
Cotto is the champion (the man who beat the man). Golovkin looks the best fighter (ala Spinks and Tyson back in the day).

He didn't...
Didn't fight the best at 168..
But great fighter none the less..
All this genuine crap and fighters like Breland, Pedroza, and Norris were never champs..
and that's just silly..

Re: Future HOF Ballots
Calzaghe beat Lacy and Kessler when they were both ranked 1 and 2 at the weight.
Pedroza WAS considered the lineal champ.

It would appears the hof view Eubank, Collins and Benn as little more than big fish swimming in a very small pound for a WBO belt that had yet to gain any real currency.
