Best domestic division? Empty Best domestic division?

Post by spencerclarke Wed 24 Sep 2014, 9:22 pm

Evening all,

Nice simple one for you. Which is the most exciting division for you for potential domestic fights right now?

For me it's probably lightweight. Seems stacked with a mixture of different types of fighters, solid domestics, rising stars and falling ones too that will probably be perfect to collide in the next few years. Some of them we have seen against one another already but potential rematches could happen. Anyone prefer a different division?

Cheers

Super bantamweight. Frampton, Quigg and Galahad. Good enough.

Super middle with Groves, Froch, De Gale and potentially Smith?!?

Welter with Khan and Brook.

Heavy with Chisora, Price, Haye, Fury, Joshua...

Not sure......quite a few rivalries going on in a few divisions at the moment.

Middleweight is starting to look tasty too. If a lot of these fights can get made around the divisions we could be in a very competitive age for British boxing.

Dipper I'd seen yours on my phone and there was no smiley. Thought it was an odd choice for your favourite!

ive split them into three categories as follows

Most Talented - Super middle - Froch, groves, degale

Most cringworthy at press conferences and wish would go away - Heavyweight bar Joshua

Most Fascinating Match ups- Lightweights - Campbell vs the following coyle, crolla mathews, flannagan, mitchel, burns, murray, gethin

Agreed, best for me too. Super middle close, id rate frampton higher than froch, quigg higher than groves, Barry higher than DeGale, marginal though. Froch is probably higher than frampton on p4p lists, but frampton certainly has much more potential.

Super bantam only really has one domestic fight going for it though.

Super middle there is loads of potential domestic match ups.

Top to bottom it's lightweight. Middleweight, though, looks on the verge of a golden period

With super middleweight there's the possibility of Eubank and Saunders moving up which makes it even more interesting, at super bantamweight it's mainly just Frampton and Quigg. There would be no real excitement in seeing Frampton take apart either Galahad or possibly McDonnell moving up.

SMW as there are 3 genuine top 10 in the divison, plus in a year I think we can talk about Callum Smith amongst Groves, Froch and DeGale. Maybe Rocky Fielding might show he has world potential too and as mentioned we have the middleweights who could potentially move up.

Middleweight has Murray and Macklin at the top with young guns: Saunders (20-0), Ryder (18-1), Eubank Jr. (17-0), Arnfield (17-0), Blackwell, (15-3), Butler (23-5) and Etches (17-0). Throw in Andy Lee and Eamonn O'Kane and it's a cracking division.

Has anyone seen Eamonn O'Kane fighting at amatuer and can you tell me if his style is any different to what his style is like now.

Because I think he's bloody awful but he does hold some good wins at amatuer level.

He was lucky the other week in Belfast. He was being ragged all over until the ref stopped the bout when his opponent got cut. Looks way too musclebound to me.
