Honestly that's a real shame. For Federer this is just another tournament - great to make another final and possibly win, but he's won so much already. I thought Schwartzman played great, a lot to admire and I hope this gives him confidence going forward.

Watching Kyrgios vs Gasquet.  Kyrgios not really a clay courter, also seemingly getting frustrated.  I was hoping he could get his first title here, but he will have to turn things around - he is now a set and a break down.

Gasquet old ? May be compared to Kyrgios but at 28 going on 29 that's stretching it a bit.

I was comparing Gasquet at 28 to Kyrgios at 20 (8+ years) and Cuevas at 29 to Federer at 33 (4+ years). Incidentally, Cuevas is older than Gasquet, but about 6+ months.

That's why I questioned Gasquet being called an Old Man.

It's a decent enough title win for Federer.

He will never be bracketed with the likes of Nadal/Borg/Vilas/Nastase/Lendl etc as a clay court great ; but amongst active players, his 200+ wins is bettered by a mere handful, most (all ?) of them Spanish/Latin American 'specialists' who focus heavily on clay tourneys every season.

Long gone are the days when he could breeze past 'lesser names' in quick straights, but his readiness to slug it out in Istanbul is evidence of continued motivation for a battle.

Let's see if Murray can get past Kohli in Munich .......

Well done Fed and Gasquet, good wins both. 13-11 in the TB is pretty mad. He's going to need to step up on those BPs if he wants to get anywhere at Madrid...quite fortunate really that his probable R2 opponent also played in a final today.

Good to see. Seems to be doing this sort of thing increasingly as he gets older.

No Murray-Kohli today that really sucks for them given that they've both entered Madrid - talk about scheduling troubles. I've got no idea what they'll do if it gets rained off again tomorrow, as they'd be out of time.

Funnily enough they've been drawn to play each other in Madrid R2. Instant rematch!
