Also not Berdych's biggest fan, but I do like him, and he's a watch connoisseur, I'm an amateur watch maker... Gotta support the market!

If Kyrgios, Raonic and Nishikori win there respective matches, it would be a very interesting AO and 2015.

Wawrinka's play against GGL was very unconvincing, which would make Kei a slight favorite.

Kyrgios is quite capable of beating Murray.

Raonic is the weakest, which would make Djokovic gate-crash this New Face party.

Murray's luck is incredible. As if stealing two majors wasn't enough now his draw has opened up into a cakewalk...

Kyrgios is fun to watch. Big game, but also he's a bit eccentric. Ball bounces into the air off the backboard from a missed Murray first serve, ball boy runs towards it, Kyrgios says "catch it, catch it... Well done!"

Kyrgios has an amazing serve. So consistent. He looks solid so far.

Except that if Andy was to pick one guy from outside the big 3 to avoid, based on H2H, it would be Berdych. Just seems to be a player that causes him more problems than you would expect...

Kyrgios has established himself a bit here. Murray has eased off the gas a bit, not perplexing him with different spins and slices anymore. This is a dangerous spell for Murray.

I think Murray sparing himself a little, take it to 4:4 or something and then give it a go for a break.

He needs to conserve energy and wait for Kyrgios to make a slip.

He's a great server, but can't really construct a point from the baseline, so it's not surprising.

Disagree there, IMBL. He can. Just watch the Kyrgios v Seppi match.

He is failing to cover (too close to net) when Murray brings him in. He is worried (and rightly so) about being lobbed. If his serve was working, Murray would not get as many returns back.

well done to Murray, i knew he would win in straight sets today. Didnt see the match but sound like he was pretty in control.

Am i right in saying about Berdych that he is the only player in tennis that has beaten Nadal, Federer (twice), Djokovic and Murray in a grand slam. I cant think of any other player who has beaten them all in a slam, most have hardly beaten one of them !

Sounds like Andy generally did a good job - just the slight scare from losing the break in the 3rd, but otherwise was under little pressure on his own serve while keeping Kyrgios under pressure on his.

NK will have learnt quite a bit from the match regarding what he needs to improve on to reach the top level - a bit on movement and a lot about court craft and guile allied to the big shots he already has. I'm still optimistic that he is a star in the making, and that given a couple more years experience he'll be up there.

Interesting now for Murray - looks to be in good form based on his last two matches, but Berdych is a guy who has caused him problems in the past and will also be confident. Extra spice in Valverdu now being TBs coach after leaving Murray's group...

Tsonga beat Murray at the AO 08 too (first round) and Djokovic also at the AO in 2010, so he gets in.

Del Potro has never beaten Murray in a slam (not sure he has ever beaten Djokovic either), and don't think Wawrinka has ever beaten Feds...

Thanks, LKv2. I had forgotten the Murray @AO 2008. I was thinking Verdasco @AO.

Murray has also beaten Nadal @USO 2008, Djokovic @USO and Federer @AO at slams.

I thoroughly enjoyed that match for a number of reasons. Obviously, Murray's performance was impressive and that is as self-assured as I can recall seeing him for a very long time. He looked unflustered and untroubled and aside from a dip midway through the third set he never really looked if he was going to let this one slip. Lots of fun points and great shots from both players as well. I really like Kyrgios style and jovial manner he plays the game - it adds a fresh dimension to his game and I hope that isn't coached out of him. At 19 it already looks apparent he is going to be a slam contender in maybe even a year or twos time and like Dimi I'd be more surprised if he failed to win a slam than if he doesn't.

Congratulations Andy on reaching your 15th slam semi and 5th at the Australian Open. Next up is Berdych and that will be very interesting. Berdych may be having a new lease of life with a new coach and new ideas being fed to him and he holds the upper hand in head to heads with Andy so he will fancy his chances. Andy will need to bring his best game to court. I am hoping Andy wins but at least he has stuffed more ranking points in the bank and is moving in the right direction whatever happens in the semi.

It’s not about growing balls!

It’s more of upping his conditioning so if he is going to go the distance with lesser ranked players, he needs to be able to recover. He played 2 5 setters and a 4 setter. Having that in the legs before facing Murray is a big test of endurance.

More fitness = sustained levels. Smile

Berdych v Murray looks a cracker. Murray saying Berdych is favourite and that Dani will no doubt come up with a great game-plan.

For me, this could go either way. I think you have to give the slight edge to Murray - vastly more experience of winning slam semis, slight edge in the h2h on hard and less likely to be afflicted by nerves. Both players have looked very sharp though.
