Of course, and as I said, DP seems a decent chap, so I wish him well. I just wouldn't ever want to see a player of that style dominating.

I dont think that would happen. But Ive seen him play some good stuff in the past not sure if that will happen again. I think he has been knocked sideways with the injuries he has had, He loves the sport and it shows but he is not exactly the strongest of players in the mental department Wink A bit of a gentle giant

Could have had an easier match too. I rate Pospisil.

I agree Guest he is no slouch. Living in Canada he is rated quite highly as you would imagine. I think he has acknowledged that the Delpo he played was not the Delpo he knew. But then that is life. Lets hope this is just the first step on Delpo's recovery

Murray through safely 6-4 6-2. Only just remembered this was on so only saw the last game, but hardly a surprising result. Young doesn't really have anything to hurt Murray with.

very very windy according to Murray, with the wind changing direction frequently (sometimes between serves).

Young hits errors on easy shots mostly. This formula won't work for Murray against top 4 but will gethim to QF probably and semi's. Didn't think it'd be raining in Miami though in March Cool

Windy as all heck, which was partly why they were htting it really slowly, Muzz was pretty decent though, serve problems persist, but it was windy.

Well done Andy! A fine start. Good chat on the first page of this thread too.

I also rate Pospisil, very difficult first match for Delpo. Hopefully the intensity will help him get back on track and assess where the wrist is, though.

It's on the end of his arm, right?

Quite like watching Smyczek. He has a decent all-round game and has taken set 2 off JWT. That said, not sure what Jo is up to. He seemed very passive and only hit one groundstroke winner in that set.

Three matches look interesting to me today:

Dimi v Pospisil
Goffin v Coric
Dolgo v Robredo

Some good clashes of style!

Good match this. Both playing well. 5-5 in the 3rd.

Goffin dismantled Coric very easily. Thought Coric might make that a bit closer.

Raonic currently cruising against Gaba. Looks in decent (if dull) nick.

Nadal fell over on his ankle on the Miami practice courts a few days ago, he says it's not currently limiting his movement too much, but it means he couldn't practice as well as he would have liked to.

Klizan can hit the ball for sure, but I would be surprised if he can sustain this level. Nole, on the other hand, can play better.

Still, who would have thought after the bagel in the first set, that we would be here now.

Dolgo for top 10? I would be surprised. He is very entertaining but in the bigger scheme of things maybe not good enough to make it to top 10. But it would be kind of nice if he managed to get there.

Nole wins quite comfortably in the end. Klizan played very well in the latter stages of the second set but Nole should have still served it out - there was no need for the third set.

He has the talent to do it and his movement is right up there. Its the consistency he has lacked (possibly partially due to that condition he has).

Djokovic went walkabout in the second set. Klizan was having a hard time closing the second set serving at 6-5. Very few first services that I can recall, long and wide FHs errors. The surprising part is the other two sets were 6-0, 6-1.

I don't think so. There are very few players with the talent of Dolgo. Gulbis isn't on that level, has an obvious serious weakness in his forehand and a poor attitude.

Gulbis' poor attitude is only surpassed by his wasted talent sadly He could, imo be a great player but it wont happen now..not whilst he treats tennis as a hobby

It does beg the rather nasty question of does mental strength count as talent? Or is it only hand skills? Not a question in necessarily asking now of course, stan in trouble btw.

I do not think there is a right or wrong answer for this.  The term "talent" is somewhat nebulous and different people will include different factors in their own definition of "talent".  I personally do not count mental strength towards talent in tennis.
