Loved how Ferrer gave Simon a good old whooping in the 2nd set, he's on top of his game, Novak isn't, he's got the baby keeping him awake every hour through the night then waking with headaches

I do not particularly want him to win.  I would prefer to see them both lose but that ain't gonna happen.

Not really sure why.  All else being equal, I think I prefer Nole but I have been getting a little bored with the same players winning everything.  Federer is the only one from the old guard at the top that I would not mind seeing continue indefinitely.

When I watch exchanges like these I know why I find today's tennis fairly boring. The rallies are quite high quality in some sense, but a lot of the time not all that much is happening.

Fair point SB, it is boring seeing Novak win on hard courts. Not so boring though as we head now into clay and grass season where he is on a par at best with Rafa in the first of those and only on a par with Murray and Federer perhaps in the second (debatable).

Not sure if others agree, but I thought Ferrer lost the last 2 games and the set mentally. Hitting the ball long to be broken, and that backhand volley down the line which went just into the tram lines in the next game.

So Ferrer this season against top 10 players I make it would be 2-1 with wins against Nishikori and Berdych and defeat against Nishikori. He is certainly on good form but when you consider his AO exit to Nishikori, and IW exit to Tomic, and this presumably defeat to Djokovic, he isn't doing anything special at the biggest tournaments, just the usual consistency at 250s and maybe 500s that we've come to expect from him.

I agree with that.. Novak has turned the heat up now and Ferrer is getting more and more frustrated I think. Having said that he holds his serve and we know he wont give up. Novak looks like he has been in a match though !!!

Ferrers ball is just too easy for Novak. Its never different and its the right speed and height for him. He absolutely dominate Ferrers balls
