Fury vs Klitschko

Well... This is looking to be made in the near future.Thoughts? I admittedly wrote Fury off in the past, but he's really looked impressive recently. A big guy, with a good jab. It ll be tough but he ll make a fight of it.

Fair enough. To be honest, I thought I was merely giving a rather obvious statement of fact. Saying a two division world champ, a former world champ, and a very good amateur who has a rather convincing win over Tony Thompson are better than Fury is hardly an insult. Wach was supposed to be a 6'8 monstrosity who would take away Klitschko's size advantage... Unfortunately, it ended up a sparring session. I may be wrong, but I'm probably not bet on Fury simply because he's really big and has a pimpslap jab.

The purse bids were cancelled as both parties reached an agreement. The fight will take place in Dusseldorf on October 24th. 

So much for Klitschko happy to come to the UK.

Bernd Boente has also said they're looking to put in on either Sky, ITV or BT but not Boxnation.

ITV could be an interesting shout. Without it going to purse bids and Hearn having a stab at it, will it really go on Sky??

You make a reasonable point boxing fan, we all bemoan the lack of boxing on terrestrial TV, but you can hardly blame them for their lack of interest if they show fighters when they are on the way up only for them to jump ship to sky the minute they are in a decent match up. Would be great if this was on Channel 5.

Does anyone really believe that apart from height that Fury holds any advantages over Klitschko?

Footwork, fitness, jab, power, even chin are favouring WK.

We can all remember the days when Fury was floored by Nevan Pajkic and Steve Cunningham. I simply cant see how Fury wins this one, he doesnt even have home advantage either, so a KO is a must.

Gotta go with Wlad on this one folks.

Just putting my prediction in for Wlad so I can safely rip those that are saying Fury has a chance.

Fury's younger, hungrier and technically better inside (Wlad has next to no inside game - apart from cuddling). He's more versatile and probably the gutsier of the two. Those are the advantages I'd say he holds over Klitschko.

The problem is that Wlad hasn't needed an inside game because referees don't enforce the rules properly!

And that's unlikely to change in Dusseldorf - a Klitschko stronghold.

Does anyone really contest that a young, unbeaten heavyweight stepping in to the biggest fight of their life is likely to be hungrier than an old champion who's been in this situation a couple of dozen times before? If so then I think you're grasping at straws somewhat.

And I'd argue that Fury is the gutsier of the pair (from what we've seen of them to date).

Klitschko shows more of the signs of someone being dedicated to the sport so if Fury is hungrier he's not really showing it, or using it as fuel to train harder.

All I want is for Fury to be treated fairly in Dusseldorf. They have this belief that they are better than us. They have this belief that their country is so very good and we are so very bad

It's a long way to go to watch 120 seconds, if Fury lasts that long. Still, just think you haven't got to leave a week before like Strongy due to the caravan journey taking an eternity.

Yes I contest it.

Klitschko's hunger and desire in unquestionable to be at the top so long, always in shape, a dedicated athlete, who I know has a real love for boxing.

I will not go into the reason why I dont think Fury is as "hungry" or "dedicated" to the sport.

I dont think any straws are being grasped at all.

Moreover I feel you are looking for reasons why Fury will win, and coming up short, and beginning to paint Tyson Fury as some sort of decenet challenger when in effect he is no different from any previous foe other than his height as I stated before.

Will you not be cheering on your fellow Irishman Sheng for this fight?

You could come up with any number of reasons why Douglas couldn't beat Tyson...

Seems weird to me that the guy who is actually fighting his contenders is the big stiff/bad for boxing and then you're encouraging Wilder to duck him. Seems to me that we'll never get as many great fighters anymore because they'll have been softened by the comparatively easy routes they have to the top.

Heavyweight title is the premier title in the sport............It's the blue riband usually when heavyweight boxing thrives it carries the rest of the sport with it...

At the moment it's being hidden away in Germany..

I dont agree with the hidden away comment but I can understand your reasons.

The good thing about Fury winning is that everyone would think they had a chance against him and I doubt he would duck anyone, which is the thing that would make the division exciting again.

Joshua certainly has power but hard to tell what he would do against an opponent that actually hits him back
