Come on GF, money where your mouth is - you've claimed before that you can predict his subs before even he knows!

I would make up some kind of complicated scoring system, but I can't be bothered.

How about ten points for smack on, zero if the guess is wrong and one less point for every minute you are out.

Work out your own scores on Sunday.

Prize is that you won and can say "I guessed when Lancaster was going to lose us the game" whilst still crying about the result (assuming you're English).

To be fair he is not the only coach to bring on the bench no matter what. Some of it is because certain players know they can give it their all for an hour(ish) and then they will be replaced.

In general the entire front row will have been replaced on the hour (see Ireland v Canada as an example). Five minutes later we tend to see the other forward replacements come on and a change at SH. The other backs on the bench often come on with 2 or 3 minutes left and bugger all chance to make a mark.

You see this week in week out at both club and international level.

Read some comments from Matt Dawson today that I found interesting. He was commentating on how England play in the last 20 minutes and how rarely they change the course of a game in that period - either turning a losing position into a win or really driving home a winning position.

He has a valid argument. some will point to the Fiji game as a case where we did - but really Fiji's fitness was not at the same level and they were out on their feet, somethingthey repeated yesterday but Wales were too knackered themselves.

We point our finger at the replacements and blame that - but really every team empties their bench in a similar manner to us.

Dawson's argument is that we seem to revert to a really narrow safety first gameplan in that period and do not play what we see.

I feel we are overcoached and their is too much reliance on players performing to a prescribed plan. We are not the only team thatrelates to. Heck Wales are like that all the time, and arguably only changed things against us because of the injuries and positional confusion. Irish posters moan constantly about how their team is unable to react or change when they have to chase a game.

The modern player is now a supreme athlete - but can they play rugby? Looking at the NH teams and SA you have to say no.

Whilst I agree, I think the thing in Englands case is that these are the type of player the manager actively wants. But if you look in the prem teams...we have lots of players who ARE rugby players.

Suspect Lancaster will bring Burgess on after half time at 6... In a bizarre attempt to counter pocock and hooper.

Yet Farrell is the chosen fly half, we play a flanker at centre, half our pack are 5/6s and Slade can't get a look in. I think Lancaster is looking for certain physical characteristics first and then trying to make a team. He certainly dislikes specialist players yet has to keep recalling the likes of Parling in order to makes his forwards coach's game plan work.
