But Gloucs sadly missed Batty's electric scoring rate.... Wink

Chris - to give you a crumb of comfort from what was hardly Gloucs' finest hour, Hyphen was out to a fine stumping by Coughtrie off a wide delivery from Young. Seemed well rehearsed.

After yet another poor batting display today by Gloucs in the T20 I suggest the following to cheer up Chris:

There was an old keeper named Batty
Who made Chris from Stroud very ratty
A fifteen ball zero
Compiled by our hero
Had Chris mincing words like pate.

Dear Mr Bucket,

With a name like yours, I would be very careful indeed about starting a limerick trend!

So I have resisted the temptation to reply in kind. (Though also due to lack of time and talent.)

But thank you anyway for your kind words, though I'm not actually that ratty. Disappointed, but not angry. So, you win a few, you lose a few; that's sport. Though I can see that "disappointed" doesn't quite rhyme with "Batty".

What makes me angry is the way some of our players were sacked for playing inconsistently (some poor performances and some match-winning ones) whilst JB seems to perform consistently poorly all season (and I cannot think of a single match-winning performance) and yet still plays week after week. That's peoples' livelihoods. And that's really important.

Now, back to the Batty poetry: what rhymes with "duck"...

Chris - apologies - with the limericks you tend to go with the flow! Maybe something on these lines would be more suitable Wink

There was an old keeper - Batty, Jon
Chris from Stroud wished he'd gone.
A fifteen ball zero
Compiled by our hero
Said Chris: "He's no Bradman, Don"!

Though the Don did get nought in his last (test) innings...

Perhaps we should have a new thread -

Which current batsman should be most likened to Bradman?

Jon Batty seems to be the front runner .... Shocked
